Which Jackson/Lakewood Kosher supermarkets sell Organic Girl leafy greens (like Spinach)?

Will I only find Organic Girl leafy greens in Shoprite type supermarkets?

Organic leafy greens are usually heavily infested with bugs even when triple washed and very hard to clean so don’t be surprised if kosher stores don’t carry them. On the plus side the tolaim do provide extra protein Smile

Ive been buying this in "Heilig of Heilig" BP, on 13th/49th for years. I wash and check well, and use it without a problem. Once in a blue moon, its no good.

Check with a light box, soapy water and put the water through a thrip cloth and you will often find that this brand is infested. It’s seasonal so you wont find all the time but definitely more than once in a blue moon.

I dont think Organic Girl has a Hechsher, just like the many brands of Romaine lettuce that all the frum stores sell, that are known to be buggy as well. You must check it yourself.

I think youre confusing it with Bowery that went out of business recently..

Afaik for the last 10 years Organic Girl never had a Hechsher at all!

Im talking about organic girl. they sold them in lakewood with a hechsher but kcl in lakewood made a whole big shpiel that they arent good and you shouldnt buy them (politics) so it stopped being sold in the stores. I did look into the hechsher and even called up the mashgiach and we came out that it is good...

Thats weird. I bought it in Brooklyn for years and I never saw a marking about a Hechsher.

LOL it has nothing to do with politics. KORC had their symbol on other bug infested produce such as Costco romaine etc. It was run by a well meaning man in San Francisco but was not acceptable to any of the orthodox kashrus agencies. It is not on the CRC recommended list, kosherquest, or any other lists of acceptable agencies.

The Vaad of Atlanta put out an alert not to use the KORC due to numerous bugs found in items with their symbol. I think you have your answer as to why KCL has the items removed from the Lakewood stores.

All produce that needs to be checked is potentially bug infested.

But theyre selling many brands of unchecked Romaine lettuce, with absolutely no Hechsher, in frum stores all over Lakewood.

I personally checked Organic Girl Spinach for years, and found bugs about as often as in all the other brands that are sold all over Lakewood, that dont have Hechsherim.

Not more, not less.

Ive proven with my own eyes, that Organic produce isnt more prone to bugs. Its equally prone to bugs. Each brand, each package is different.

Organic girl is problem, I have found bugs in every pkg I have purchased. If you do plan to use it, it MUST be throughly checked. And yes, you will find it in other groceries. If a store has a good hecher, it will not sell it without a label, that it must be checked. Glattmart in Brooklyn, has such stickers, on the Organic girl produce they sell.

Interesting.

Kosher Discount on 13/49 has been selling it for years, with the understanding that it will be checked or used for smoothies, in which case most (even Satmar people I know) dont check bec its not "Nikur".
