Someone else posted today that she's getting 23 packages from Simon and Schuster that she didn't order. She got a notification from UPS.

Last year I got a bunch of Amazon packages addressed to a random name but my address.
I checked my cc carefully. It took some time because I'm always placing Amazon orders so at first nothing looked out of the ordinary. But turns out the charges *were* on my cc. I got in touch with Amazon. They were able to see that someone linked my account to their account and was able to place orders through their account but using my cc info. Amazon was able to shut that account. I spent hours with the bank and Amazon trying to get the money back but I never did. Thankfully it seems the person was able to use my cc but didn't have access to the actually cc info because once I caught on they made no further charges.

I still don't know what the motive of that person was but clearly some sort of scam. Possibly testing the waters, possibly stupid and didn't realize they were shipping to my address, possibly just looking to make trouble?

How can I be careful? I didn’t do anything?
What am I supposed to do?
Google searches show that these things are usually brushing scams, that they ship stuff in order to be able to write reviews… something to that extent.
What do I do now?

I would leave it outdoors in the garbage can for pickup and monitor my accounts. change your shopping passwords
just to be safe
it might be nothing

Why should she put it in garbage if it's something she can use?
(I DK if it is, just trying to understand what would be the point!)
