We're working on opening a business together. Each of us are doing tasks we are best at and have the most experience with. Dh is dealing with vendors and suppliers, which he has a lot of experience with, and I'm working on product development and design, which I have experience with.
We are currently using the same email address, and I'm seeing the emails he's sending out to overseas suppliers. I'm kinda cringing because his grammar isn't the best, and there are a bunch of small grammatical errors that I spot without even trying to find them, but he is emailing vendors overseas so it might not even matter to them. Should I be pointing out all his mistakes or just let it go?
We're new to this whole working together thing, so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to be handling this.

That's a really good question. If it were my employee sending out such emails I would feel comfortable to guide them to fix it, but if it were my equal partner (and my husband to boot) then it really depends on how he'll take it...
If you could give feedback, an easy fix would be to tell him to run his emails thru AI like chatGPT first, it will polish them up in seconds. Is he the type to even care though, or he'll think you're just nitpicking?

Oh, I didn't think about AI. That's actually a great idea. His confidence isn't the best, so I don't want to knock him with constant critic. I did tell him to reread his emails before pressing send, but he said it doesn't matter since these are overseas companies and English isn't their first language.
I just don't want him to come across as unprofessional.

He can download an extension called Grammarly. My husband appreciates when I correct him and improve his interactions with clients. If your husband doesn't mind, point it out.

I would suggest using Grammarly and/or ChatGPT, but bring it up as a best practices for both of us, I had this great idea, don’t make it specifically pointing to him.

I use a similar program professionally, and I just have to mention that chat GPT specifically sometimes changes the meaning of your email into something else, and one word can literally change a business deal from being a positive outcome to a negative.
Sometimes a grammar mistake with the proper intention is better than a polished email that conveys a wrong message.

I just told him about using chat gpt and he took it pretty well. He said he's never tried using it before, and tested one email on it, which basically fixed his punctuations and spelling mistakes. It didn't really change the structure or words of the email, since he input that they should only fix the grammar errors. Thank you all for your help!

I have experience running a business with my husband. I strongly recommend separate email accounts for each of you.
I would also recommend sitting down with a business coach who has experience with married couples working together, to get advice about how to create boundaries now so that you don't run into issues in the future.

Hi!
I've been working with my husband for about a year and half now and editing all of his correspondence with clients before it goes out is one of my jobs. He's a professional; he's educated. But he's just terribly sloppy with spelling and grammar (even with spell check it's awful). I told him that many people won't notice or care, but there are those who will judge you based on this and it's always better to come off polished. He wasn't offended and appreciates my help.

Or at the very least a different signature for each of you, even if you use one email account.
