My 4 year old sons tooth looks gray and I pointed it out to the dentist who then said it may be from an injury and may be getting infected and we should get it pulled. The dentist said they would put a fake tooth in its spot. Does anyone have experience with this?
He isn’t in any pain. Can this still be an infection?
If you did pull out your child’s front tooth, did you put a fake tooth in its place or leave it?

My son was four when he fell down a flight of steps and the only injury bh was a gray/dead tooth. The dentist had said that if there is puss or other signs of infection he would need to pull the tooth but otherwise he was comfortable leaving it in. My son is six now and the tooth is still in, still gray. His baby teeth are starting to fall out and I don’t think the gray tooth will be any different.
If he isn’t in any pain maybe go for a second opinion.

Same as above poster. My dentist said to watch it for a bubble on top of the tooth or any infection but otherwise leave it.

Ok thanks I’ll check tomorrow to see if there’s any bubbles on top. Maybe I’ll go for a second opinion. Thanks

Gray tinge is injured. It's okay
Infection would be pain or abscesses, very red gums, etc
