I’m trying to remember story of professor or in the Yiddish version rosh yeshiva who threw out a student due to misbehavior- later on in life he (professor) was on a respirator. Respirator stopped working they thought it was the old student who pulled the plug in the end it was just the janitor? I want to use the story in class pls help!

Never heard this story. It sounds pretty awful. I’m curious as to the point of the story.

I heard it as a cynical story. (but see below) There was a professor who threw out a student due to misbehavior- later on in life he met that student again while he (professor) was in the hospital on a respirator...and if you think this story is going to end with the student being the doctor who saved his life , you are reading too many inspirational stories. The student was the janitor who came to change the bedpans.

Note, I'm not a cynical person at all. Even so I think both possibilities should be presented. Not only that, it should be pointed that even if student thrown out due to misbehavior did end up changing hospital bedpans that is also good. He ended up doing a much needed productive task with his life. It is wonderful. Despite his earlier misbehavior he went on the good path. Even if he didn't become the hot shot doctor that he may have been had he behaved, he still did the best with the opportunities that life offered him later on.
