Im in desperate need of a new sheital
only have one that I wear for everything (and its already missing some hairs , miscolored)
also its a real issue when I need to give into the sheital macher cuz have nothing to wear
my question is how do you convince your husband its not a want but a need even though there is absolutely no money for one. (right now we are in alot of debt and every extra penny goes to pay back that)

Try a gemach! You get to try on and keep it. Some gemachs have new pieces only

I love my good-taste synthetic wigs. Fit is not an issue, you can cut the bottom band to loosen them. Wash only in shampoo meant for them. And they need a first wash - cold water- to break in.

Look up The Wig Outlet on instagram and see if they’ll be in your area soon. I bought a brand new wig from them for $500. It’s tagless so you don’t know the brand, but it’s a regular mid-range sheitel. BH I’m very happy with mine.

I found Paula Young wigs to be good enough for short term use.

I'd suggest buying a cheap synthetic off Amazon or Paula Young just to wear while your sheitel is at the sheitel macher.

Get your good one repaired and keep the synthetic as a backup.

Yes to Paula Young. I have done well with Vogue Wigs, Wilshire Wigs and Light in the Box website. You need an open wig stand to dry it on. And a wide tooth comb. Cold water, press in a towel. The set is permanent. Wig cap out of doors, not necessary at home.

Op there are many gemach that will give you a 2nd hand sheitel at very minimal cost. I'm not in monsey so I don't have numbers but I'm sure there are some there too!

Do not buy one if you don't have the money for it!
