My ds , hf autism graduated a special ed hs. Did not want to go to yeshiva after hs. Tried college..it was very difficult..he has been home for a few years..we finally got access vr supportive employment but they have not found a job for him..he has self direction..but since he is hf..I have no idea how he can utilize any of it..he doesn't want com hab or go to museums..all he wants is a job..and I have no idea how to get him one..he would not make a good impression at an interview, very shy but actually very capable..he loves computer parts and very knowledgable..is he just supposed to stay home for years and play video games??

What kinds of jobs do you think he’s capable of? What are his interests besides for computer parts?

It's not really a matter what he is capable of..he is very rigid and not very flexible at all..that's part of how his brain works..so even if he can do many other things..he loves computers and won't do anything else.

Can you reach out to something like yachad? I know they do job placements for their clients.

Can you help him start his own computer repair business?

The key is find what he is good at and what he loves to do. Then work from there. So you say he loves computers, look for a job working with computers that doesn't involve flexibility. Work with his strengths, avoid his weaknesses. He has so much to share with the world!
