My daughter is currently in seminary but is interested in going to nursing school. I know there are some frum schools that have really quick programs. I'm pretty clueless about the options. Has anyone done it recently that can walk me through the different ways. Also we live out of town so I think she might need to board or dorm somewhere.

The new seminary is 3 years total with all necessary credits and classes. Be prepared it’s very intense and costly.

Sarah Schenirer is working on a program. Call them. I spoke to them and seems like the ideal program. It's not finalized yet so they don't have all the details.

I have friends who have been a part of this program. It is very, very intense and many girls drop out. I have friends in Monsey who have went through the local college's nursing program (RCC) and had an overall good experience.

There's only so much you can shorten a nursing program because of clinicals. If you are OOT it really may be worth investigating the local community college ADN (associate degree nurse) program. It won't be a frum setting, but the students in those programs tend to be serious. Many are older. And they aren't socializing outside of class. This would be much cheaper.

The ADN-BSN bridge programs can then be done many ways including online while working.

If she has seminary credits then she can finish up her BA and then apply for an accelerated bachelors of nursing (like PACE, mount sinai...) I didn't have any sem credits so I'm doing an associates nursing program which is 2 years, then after will be getting my bsn online (can be 6-12 months) you can work while getting the bsn. So it depends which route she wants- with getting associates first it can put her in the nursing field faster. Plus it's generally cheaper. (I don't believe you get financial aid with the accelerated bsn, since it's a second bachelors)

I’m a graduate of the new seminary in Flatbush. It was very intense, but I was passionate enough to get through it- started out single, went through COVID lockdowns, got engaged and married and graduated a few weeks before I had my fist baby. Feel free to pm me with any specific questions you or your daughter have.

I’m interested in learning more about this. How are you getting your bsn online? Don’t you need clinical rotations? What’s associates nursing program? Is that just the prerequisite credits you need for nursing school?
You can pm me if you’d rather

There are so many rn-bsn programs online, you can look it up. They're basically degree mills. You take fluffy classes and write reports. It's under $10k.

Clinicals you do in the ADN program, some rn-bsn programs require some clinicals, but not all.

Associates program is the same as nursing skl- you take the same core classes as a bsn program, graduate and take the NCLEX. You're the same RN as anyone else but you don't have the bachelors so no "well rounded education" (no extra fluffy classes like history and math etc).

You do need like 1 semester of prereqs for an associates tho.

Hospitals outside the city don't care if you have a bsn but in NYC they do, which is why I'll be getting a bsn once I graduate.
