Suggestion to OP - if you want yes or no but want no discussion, why don’t you do a poll versus open ended post ?

I'd rather get a $2 scratch off lottery ticket than a $2 gift card, which just comes across as cheap, from an employer.

Your employees repeatedly ask you for small gifts??

I don't think she wants anything from this thread other than to give us a place to comment that's not on the other thread she started.

So now as an adult you rake in so much gift cards are totally unnecessary?

Haha, nope. But it would be weird to give me a 5 dollar gift cerificate. Weird to get that for an adult.

If someone gave me one, id use it. But nobody would.

I know a company that includes a scratch off lottery ticket in the mishloach manos they give their employees every Purim. I think it's a great idea.

I can't think of anything else I would appreciate that costs $2, besides for a pastry or chocolate.

I used to appreciate a pastry or chocolate but lately I’m trying to watch my sugar so I know there are people who may have a hard time with a food gift.

One never can win on this site.
Tzchake type stuff? No. I am decluttering.
Food- yes, except for those that have to watch their weight, have allergies, or blood sugar issues.
Gift cards? While I can pick out my own gift, I don't go to that store. And it better be significant so I don't have to add any of my own money to it.
Alcohol? We don't drink. Bad messages to families and bad chinuch to the kids that alcohol has to always be there.
Cookbooks? So trite. Not all women cook or like to cook. And if they are into cooking? I own it already.
Expensive items? Just give me the value in cash. I don't care it is real crystal. I don't want another bowl.

There is no way to win except cash. Unless of course the amount is "pathetic" and "insulting".

Everyone should just look at the message: thank you. I am thinking of you.
And ignore that it wasn't right for you and give it away.

I hear your sentiment, but this thread is indeed asking for opinions

Why? Who wouldn't want an extra $2 off an order?

The fact that my boss, who is raking in $$$$ off of my labor, thinks that the only gift I am worthy of is a $2 gift card, is extremely demeaning. It's better to get nothing- that means he forgot that he is supposed to give a bonus. It's annoying, but ppl are human. But to think of getting me a gift/bonus, and then go out and buy a $2 gift card? That's just horrible.

My work gives out a small tzatzke every R”C. Most of the time it’s food and sometimes things like a notepad or mug or lunch. I think most teachers appreciate it, especially knowing that the school is on a limited budget

You asked for links but this thread is asking for opinions. Then you say you don’t want opinions. I think the fact that people on both threads tell you that they don’t want junk should signify something.
If you want to benefit from the community, you should listen to the community opinion even if you don’t like it

OP opened this thread asking people's general opinion on whether they would like these gifts, not opinions on whether her employees would like them. As far as I can tell, she's not arguing with anyone's person perspective, she only disagrees with people insisting that she's wrong about her situation
Clearly she has an unusual situation that explains why a) she doesn't want to share details b) is confident that her small gifts are appreciated.

Got it now, thanks. But now you have got me really curious in what context adult women employees would enjoy such gifts.

I used to work at a healthcare agency with very many employees, frequent trainings and constantly hiring more. The employees don’t work at the office, they work at different facilities, homes, etc.
I could totally see them appreciating these types of gifts.

This OP get a bunch of scratch offs at your local store. I used to work in a place where they sent scratch-offs with invoices to the customers.
