Lots of salary talk on here for woman who work in the Tristate area.

I live out of town and my salary is so much less than the numbers I see here.
I’m curious if my salary is low in general, or just low in comparison to Lakewood/NY.

I have 10 years experience in healthcare billing, and im a manager of my department in a midsize company. I make 65k, and pay $350 for my family per paycheck for decent health insurance including dental and vision.

Curious what others in my situation make.

Please share , if I’m underpaid I would love to hear, I think knowing compared to others in my situation that im being paid too little, ill get the confidence to ask for a significant raise.

I’ve been in this management position for a bit over a year , but grew within the department for years before this.

I’m supposed to be 30 hours but it’s always 40+. I work a lot from home at night to be able to keep up with my workload.

So Lakewood likely would be higher salary for those hours. I think Lakewood salaries are very inflated compared to other places. Possibly even Brooklyn.

You should be getting a small raise yearly though

Exactly.

Thats why I want to hear from someone who lives “out of town”.
My younger sister in Lakewood with less years of experience in a similar job makes much more than me but it’s apples to oranges since Lakewood pays so differently than out of town.

Me too. I have 18 years experience and am earning $65k as a senior staff accountant for a healthcare business (30 hour week, non CPA). My workload is pretty heavy and I think I am fairly competent. I think it's fair though. Full time CPA managers with the same amount of experience are earning about $100k in the big 4 firms. If you take my hourly rate and convert it to full time 40 hours, I would be earning about $89k.

Additionally, my husband is a software engineer in a large company earning $85k and is on top of his pay band.

Midwest salaries are lower....

I do get raises , but 5% doesn’t add much. I got a raise of 10k when I became manager so that was significant, but my workload jumped so much that my hourly pay is actually much less than what it was before.

65k for 18 years experience … wow. Makes me feel better but you should be getting much more. So should I!

Can you renegotiate your hours. If you are working 40 hours on the books you would be making 81k
If you are working the hours you should be paid for them.

This is true.
I’ll be much happier with 81k.

Not a bad idea, and comes off classier than asking for a large raise, it’s more like saying can I get paid for the hours I work.

Oot salaries are much less because the cost of living is much less. Your rent/mortgage is lower, you may be living in a state with tuition vouchers, everything overall is just cheaper. I can't speak to if you are underpaid but don't compare yourself to Lakewood salaries and feel bad.

I live in chicago so no lol.
It’s the opposite.
My tuition is triple what it is in Lakewood.
My house comparably and square footage wise for the time I bought it was the same or more than Lakewood . Probably MUCH more once adjust how old the house is.

Nothing here is cheaper. If anything, aside for housing, clothing+food+typical frum expenses are higher OOT.
You’re not wrong that housing is often cheaper in out of town cities but unfortunately not chicago.

Only Cleveland and Milwaukee have tuition vouchers.

I do love living here and my house is worth much more than what I paid for it because I bought it 10 years ago, but I still need the higher salary to pay my current bills
