There is this necklace in jewlery store I keep passing in town. It's been about 8-9 months since I have first seen it and 1) it's still there and 2) I still like it. With Yom Tov coming up I was thinking of geting it for myself. I have told Dh many times that I like it, and it's within our budget - sort of (a stretch). I guess I feel justified in getting something nice. Before we were married DH made a big deal abotu saying how important it is to get me nice things. Now a few yeras down the road (a couple of kids and huge support from me in him getting an education and good job B"H) he doesn't really do that so much. He talks about it but doesn't do it. So I thought today maybe I'll just get it. That way we'll both be happy - I'll have it and he can like me having it. The only problem is, as much as we can actually afford it more now than we could 5 months ago, I know I could use the money for other things....but I want it Rolling Eyes WWYD?

Get it. Put it away until you figure out exactly how you want to present it to DH. But get it before someone else does!

Get it. I learnt one thing. If I keep thinking if I want it or "need" it over and over again then it's time to get it-you don't have regrets then. Enjoy those compliments over yom tov.

Get it and have it wrapped. Leave it there. Tell your dh to pick it up for you and present it to you in front of the kids. Enjoy.

My husband loves to give gifts, yet if I ever want something, I always need to either tell him or buy it myself. Buy it without any doubts and enjoy it.

Read Moteks thread. Maybe that'll give you the push to get it. Wink

get it! - I'm still mad about the bowl that I really wanted and that dh didn't get to the store in time to get (they're imported from Israel?)

It wasn't a lot of money but I can't get it now.

Ok, I'm not that mad, but I still think about it.

If you are still thinking about it after that many months then you should definitely get it.

Shakelee - I love your idea.

I went today. The store is closed until Tuesday Crying But DH is ok with all this, I think he is almost excited at the prospect of not having to do it himself (?). I will hopefully get it for the next set of Yom Tovim!

I’ve done this numerous times and dh is ever so grateful that he gets the credit for giving a gift to mommy and mommy actually is in love with the gift. Everybody wins.
