Or what other baby gear?
Does a doo a make any other baby gesr redundant or does it just fill in the void it was creaTed to fill in?
I am getting a new reclining doona for the baby I am expecting. I already have a butterfly and I am planning to buy a Cybex Beezy because it has larger wheels, lies flat and is better on Israeli streets, but still compact.
I also will have a 3 year old so might also need a double for longer walks and traveling with two kids
Is it an overkill? Help me brainstorm.
We don’t drive and take busses and taxis.
Do I need a swing at home or can I just rock/wheel the baby in a reclined doona indoors?

I'm asking seriously because I'm also looking into strollers now, for my first.
We live in israel and hardly take taxis, and don't own a car.
What is the point of having a doona?
I basically decided on getting 2 strollers-1 big, more bulky one with good wheels and a large basket, has a bassinet option, wheels well on bumpy streets etc, and a travel stroller that still has a basket but is lightweight and compact.
I don't see the advantage of a doona. There is no basket, its a bumpy ride for the baby, the classic doona is terrible for the baby's back-which apparently is not an issue though for the doonaX, the handle is low, it can easily flip if the diaper bag is heavy... Am I missing something major about the doona that everyone is buying it?

Taking taxis or getting rides is a deciding factor here for us. We started to need to shlep the baby around town quite frequently and either had to shlep both seat and the stroller, or hold the baby on our lap which is illegal. And then you still need to wheel the baby around upon arrival. I have tried doona out while traveling for a couple of days and found it quite convenient both in a taxi and on the bus.
If you never get any rides, or not often enough, you don’t need a doona

Butterfly and cybex beezy are very similar. They are both lightweight, travel strollers. If you want to get another more sturdy stroller I’d get something more full-size like the Uppababy Vista (you can add a second seat for your toddler) amazing for hills, bumps and stairs in Israel.

I have a doona which I use when I take the car and an uppababy which I use when I walk. I also have a double stroller for when I’m out with both of my kids. At home I have a swing, a bouncer and a play mat in different places in the house, and I find all to be helpful. I think it’s not necessary to have all but it is necessary to have one thing to put your baby down in. The doona is a car seat. It isn’t meant to be used for extended periods of time. It’s not so good for the baby to be in it all day. I also have a baby carrier that I sometimes wear.

Doona and bugaboo dragonfly.
Doona is for travel and sometimes used in the house to rock the baby.
Bugaboo for every day use.

Why don’t you get the uppababy vista instead of the cybex beezy? This way you have a double stroller for the once in a while you need one for the 3 year old.
(Also what’s the point of a doona if you don’t drive or take busses or taxis?)

I absolutely also wear my babies and I wouldn’t leave my baby in a doona or swing for extended periods of time (neither have I ever had a baby who handled so much time contained in one place).
I already have a „full-size“ stroller but it’s very bulky. I want to sell it once the baby doesn’t necessarily need a bassinet. I might sell the butterfly too because I ended up not being a fan of taking my stroller inside the plane.

I do take taxis and then need to walk a stretch. That’s the usual scenario. So I need both a car seat and wheels.

In my mind Beezy is not far from the Dragonfly in terms of function. I also don‘t need a bassinet

Doona is only for the car and for running errands. Not for inside the house. If you think you need a swing then get one. But you can just rock baby in a regular stroller.

The more kids I have the less patience I have for tons of gear. I had the bee for 12 years and just retired it. My next baby I’ll use the doona exclusively for 6 months and then I have the butterfly which is perfectly fine for travel and everyday use without taking up half my house. Swings and bouncers I don’t use much either. My newborns nap in their bassinet and from about 2 months they’re already on the floor.
