Yups. My relative who's in the industry told me the chocolate is going to go up like crazy after pesach. I stocked up and then saw it's not so expensive. But then lovely over the summer and now fall it kept going up and up and up.

I recently used up my stash and boy is it expensive! We particularly like the shufra chocolate chips. It's so tasty even to take a few chips with the coffee. But boy is it expensive. A pack of shufras chocolate chips is close to $6!

We used to go thru 3 pks a week at least. Between Shabbos with the yogurts, homemade chocoalte chip biscotti chocolate chip Cookies or cake with chocolate chips or oat cookies w chocolate chip. Or granola bars with chocolate chips.... you get the drift. Chocolate is a staple here.
So I started making craisins biscotti, biscotti. And also chocolate chip cookies....
I don't like using a lot of coloring so I found natural sprinkles and use those.

Why is everyone saying this ? My kids eat plain whole milk yogurt with a few (like 6 were ever stingy ) dark (72%) choc chips, what’s wrong with that

Some of you suffer from severe functional rigidity, a fancy way of saying you haven't learned to roll with the punches and adapt to changing conditions. Nobody NEEDS chocolate chips or chocolate anything. If the chips are too costly, make something else for gosh sakes. I'm not suggesting subbing dehydrated celery chips for the goodies, but surely there are other cookies you can make that don't call for costly add-ins. Won't hurt your kids to learn a little adaptability, either.

Not sure why this thread devolved into nitpicking on what other people's children eat.

Do whatever works for you! Dw about others sticking their nose into your business

Cocoa prices on the market have quadrupled over the past two years, mostly due to poor crops in the cocoa growing region. That’s why you are seeing prices soar in the supermarket.

There's also a growing awareness and a movement for fair cocoa trade (ie, pay the cocoa farmers and workers a better wage).

I sell chocolate and you can’t imagine how much our vendors have raised the prices. It’s gonna be a luxury to eat it soon.

Because most people don't give their kids plain, whole milk yogurt. The amount of sugar added to most yogurt is shocking and destroys the little bit of "live cultures" they sprinkle in. Rather let them drink whole milk.

I would imagine someone who is letting their kids sprinkle a few chocolate chips into their yoghurt is using plain yoghurt, otherwise it wouldn't need anything sweet. It's a great way to get kids to eat something *very healthy* - bio yoghurt is way better than just milk.

This is probably the same type of person who bashes people for complaining that baby formula is expensive-surely it's cheaper to nurse!
Duh it is, but obviously it's not an option or they would have done that already.
