Depending on the context, either ay or uh could be correct. Also local dialects differ.

Aye green car...
Now I see that's if I'm reading it or teaching
If I'm talking in conversation it will be 'uh green car'

Whether you say aye or uh depends on where you live.

"Uh" , but if it's being used to mean the number one, or a single of something, it might be pronounced "aye" to emphasize that it's only one.

"Take 'aye' cup of flour"

If I'm reading it will say A like the letter. If I'm talking I say uh.

But even if I'm reading, if the a isn't at the beginning of the sentence, like "take a drink", the a is uh.

Thanks everyone for responses!
Dc is learning to read now and I was not sure if I’m saying it all wrong all the years or they’re taught differently than us!
(Between my kids they all say differently- taught in different school)

I alternate between "ay" (rhymes with pay) and "uh". Probably mostly "uh" when chatting casually. If I were giving a speech or teaching a class I'd be sticking with "ay". "Ay" seems more....articulate/ educated/ correct. But I don't know if it actually is or if that's just something I made up in my head.

"Aye" rhymes with why, so I highly doubt people pronounce it that way.

I usually say "uh" or the schwa sound as someone said above.
