You use same comforter as 48 inch beds. You just use custom sheets

Ppl use full/Queen quilts. They are longer but ppl sometime like the extra hang down.
Otherwise only frum stores.
The plus side to buying bigger is that you can buy standard duvets and not frum duvets.

I use twin sized comforters on 48 inch beds so you can certainly use twin comforters for 44 inch beds. It works fine.
I think full size would be too wide.

No, That’s way too big. Use twin.
