A couple with one small child.
Geirim, looking to grow in a Litvish community.
Doesn't have to be super anglo, as long as we could get by without fluent Hebrew (at least until we learn).
Prefer a community that isn't so insular, as in they are friendly with other types of Jews and not closed-off like some chareidi communities.

I think RBS as well. Unfortunately, some other communities might not be always as welcoming. I’m sure there are others that are. If you don’t speak her well, there are not that many communities to be honest. We can hear because we needed a soft landing. I know Member of geirim and they did other communities And unfortunately, did not feel as welcome, but they came here and integrated quite well

I'm the one who mentioned RBS gimmel or daled, but I actually live in Neve Yaakov. I agree its an option but I would 100% look into RBS first. Neve Yaakov is a beautiful community, but without getting into details I do think RBS may be able to provide the support needed for this sort of move.

I'm also from Neve Yaakov and agree that it could work but not the first place place to look at.

I’m from Neve Yaakov as well ( can we have a get together or something?) but I don’t think it’s a good choice for an out of the box type of family.

Everyone always says RBS... but here's the thing, at the risk of sounding petty. From what I've seen, it looks imcredibly boring. Just a bunch of identical apartment buildings and not much else.

I LOVE Tzfat from what I know about it and have seen, but I'm told there are not a lot of Litvish there, mostly chassidish? DH really does not want to end up just going to the Chabad or something.

What do you mean by "out of the box"? If it's because I said I was looking for a tolerant place, it's not because of ourselves - we are quite frum and strict - but more for if we had family or friends stay with us, and because we want to raise our kid to be accepting and loving of all Jews, and to not hate non-Jews either.

It's Israel. Out of the box is ger, BT, Abba doesn't learn full time or work in kodesh, etc. Neve Yaakov is a charedi neighborhood in Jlem. It's not something I'd recommend to Anglo Olim.

Boring? I'm not so sure. Tons of shopping, shuls, schools, etc. There are always people out and about. Tons of learning. It's a great area. Tzfat is not somewhere I'd recommend to anyone that is not a very certain type....it's also hard to find work up there and hardly any anglos....

I'm not into shopping and all that, I don't mean boring in that way. I mean kind of... depressing looking? I like nature and color. RBS looks monotonous. And I'm not a social person.

I like Tzfat because I love nature and art and history and stuff like that... Nachlaot also looks amazing, but expensive. But that's another idea of what kind of setting I'm looking for.

Tzfat and nachalot are very hippy, out of the box not mainstream litvish whatsoever. So I'm really confused what you're looking for. Rbs has plenty of nature, great hikes nearby...also if you aren't social it's going to be very hard to make aliyah and integrate. You have to be willing to put yourself out there and meet people, all the more so in a less Anglo area! Maybe you should research aliyah more...it's important to be realistic if you want to be very successful.

In an Israeli charedi neighborhood, absolutely. No smart phones, no internet (except for work), no army for boys. It's not equivalent to yeshivish in America at all. That's why SO many olim end up in rbs bc it's less intense and more open minded in that sense. You could also look into Rehovot, there is a small American yeshivish community there.

I know nothing about the culture of these cities, it's the physical aspect of them that I like. The info you're giving me is very helpful! My husband is very yeshivish and I'm actually pretty "hippy" type... I guess we have a lot to talk about before we make the move!
Maybe I will research RBS a little more. A pilot trip should help us, but we're trying to narrow down to a few areas first.
Please keep the info coming!

What?
Totally not.
My community has tons of geirim, baalei teshuva, etc.
Huge mix of working, olim, native Israelis, etc.
Everything goes. There's no box.
I don't know anything about Neve Yaakov. But there are plenty of communities for geirim in Israel.

Interesting to hear a different perspective. What city are you in, if you don't mind my asking?
