What kind of floor for a frum home?

I lived in lkwd in new construction. Had wood in my LR/DR and vinyl in my playroom. The vinyl looks cheap. I moved now and again wood floor is my first choice. The nicest floor in my current home is the wood

We've lived in our house for 6+years now, and we have a wood laminate through the main level of our house (ranch-style house) but the corners are all coming up now and schmutz under the boards makes it worse. We need to reglue most of them. WE don't have the finances to replace the boards now.

Im in the same boat. Need to replace floors after 130years!!!! Yes, our wooden floors held up nicely for approx. 90 years, we sanded them 15 yrs ago, but were told there is noooo way we can sand them again, and now we are lost and dunno what to do. Good wood costs, a lot, ppl claim even great high end wood ( which wa cant afford) wouldnt look and keep up as well as our old scatched damaged floor.

I have a wood that sealed with a matte finish. It was refinished three years ago. It is scratched for sure but only I can tell. The overall effect is nice and I wouldn’t want any other floor type.

Most flooring stores will have prefinished wood. There's something called the Janka scale that rates it:

I have wood floors in my dining room and bedrooms. I'm living in my house around 12 years and I see that I do need to refinish my dining room floors now... but it held up for quite a while. I didn't notice scratches but maybe I'm just not the type to notice. I like the look and it's much easier to clean than tiles.

If you don't want it to get scratched there are things you can put on the bottom of the chairs.

I was wondering the same I have vinyl in the bedrooms (renting) and it’s always dusty no matter how often I wash them. I clean it and 2 hrs later walking barefoot and I feel the dirt under my feet I hate it.

We did wood a year ago. My kids play ball on it constantly. We are not careful to avoid damage. Wash it frequently. It has scratches but overall looks great you just gotta ignore the scratches. Previously had vinyl and after a while it was chipped and worn around the edges and didn’t look great looked cheap.

I love the look of wood the most. Unfortunately it never worked for us. I have a houseful of boys and the floors would get get so scratched right after we resanded it. It was so upsetting we redid them 3 or 4 times in 15 years. Finally we got huge matte porcelain tiles with heating underneath and it's a game changer.

It seems everyone these days are doing vinyl as a preference to wood (not just as cheaper, some are actually not that cheap). Wondering if there is a reason why this is preferred by so many.
My house is an old house, it's not a new modern house and the floors are goners and nothing is level or flat.

You can do a relatively cheap porcelain tile that looks exactly like wood and lasts a long time, doesn’t get scratched

Not sure where you live but lazer marble in brooklyn on dahill road has nice options in all price ranges

I wouldn't get prefinished wood because dirt will get stuck between the planks. If going wood, site finished is the best. If your doing vinyl you should get top quality or else it will scratch and will not be durable. Also do not get beveled edge planks because dirt will get stuck between the planks. I personally have vinyl plank flooring and it held up great, the brand I have is called cortec.
