Of course this can be true but the other option can be true as well. It's important to do your research.
I also heard from a different source knowledgeable in Kashrus that this Hechsher isn't really worth much

CRC has a list of acceptable hechsherim. On their website. They will not say a hechsher is unacceptable because of competition.

This is why I buy my own and check my own, the kashrus agencies are big businesses and mostly in it for the money, there are some that are more machmir than others but for the most part they aren't thoroughly checking. I once found bugs in packages of cheese and reported it and nobody cared.

I don't know that no one cared, but this is a problem of quality control on the part of the manufacturer, not carelessness on the hechsher's part. Cheese is not "muchzak betolaim" - you just don't find bugs in cheese. Cheese doesn't have to be checked for bugs. If the cheese was improperly stored or packed you might find bugs but that's a matter for the USDA, not the baal machshir.

Kashrus agencies are definitely NOT in it for the money. It would be a miracle if every hashgacha company would make money. Cheese is not a common food to find bugs, it was probably stored wrong and got maggots or you accidentally got a flavored cheese and it had spices or something. And most reliable kashrus agencies all say to check for bugs the same way. Sometimes there are differences based on location, like NY might be slightly different than LA or Chicago.
I would also trust a reliable hechsher more than someone checking her own vegetables in her own house, I’m not saying that you are not qualified, I’m saying I’d feel better getting a package with badatz eidah chareidis than having someone say oh I checked it myself since there are so many halachos.

Broccoli and cauliflower (what they sell) are among the hardest to check. I'm pretty sure they sell greenhouse grown. Fresh leafy greens are ridiculously easy to check with a thrip cloth.
Can you tell me how you do this?
