(I was going to post in another forum but decided to post here instead in case someone wants to respond anonymously)

I enjoy bringing my kids to art fairs and craft markets so they can dip their toes into the world of art, get some exposure to real life human artists, develop some appreciation for talent etc. you know…
The thing is, I am conflicted and feel bad for attending because I’m not in the market for pieces of art.
If you’re an artist (of any kind), what do you think? Should someone like me show up, if I know there is a 99% chance I’m not buying anything?

Nope, most people go to art fairs just to look around? I think that’s the idea to get people in the door and maybe a small percentage will buy. I also enjoy looking at art and have never bought anything but honestly if I found a perfect piece that wasn’t a fortune. I probably would buy it.

The thing is, I’m not looking for a perfect piece that’s not a fortune. I’m not a spur-of-the-moment art collector.
I’m going to engage my children.
So this is why it feels wrong to me to go.
I’m curious if anyone else can weigh in.

I guess you could say it’s onaat debarim because the sellers will think your buying yet in the other hand you really never know what if your kids persuade you to buy something

Can you buy something small like stickers/ magnets if they have?

Sometimes I'll take my kids to a pet store to look at pets and fish, but I feel that it's wrong to go without purchasing anything so we'll buy an overpriced animal figure on our way out

Even if you don't buy you help the artist by giving appreciation.

A crowd attracts buyers.
