A few of my children ( young ages 3-8) have such a hard time falling asleep!! I guess those have the same genes. It’s really frustrating and I feel like I tried everything but looking for advice or ideas! Melatonin works like magic but I wud really rather not give it especially every night.

Same here. I let them listen to a story or music on Alexa or Naki radio

Did you try making sure they’re really tired and it’s not just a time on the clock..and is the room temperature comfortable.. sometimes if it’s too hot or cold it’s harder to fall asleep

Ye sometimes let them listen also but seriously cud be hours of not falling asleep. I tried with and without listening to something and earlier bedtimes and later.. it’s very frustrating! They wouldn’t even fall asleep in a long car ride at midnight

What is their routine like? Are they tired? Not hungry or thirsty? Is their room dark & a comfortable temperature? Sound machine? Comfortable pj's without scratchy tags? Do they perhaps eat too much sugar, especially before bed?
Do they wind down before bed?

If you want to avoid melatonin you can try

Magnesium footsoaks or lotion
Gaba
L theanine
5htp
Cbd oil or gummies
Lemon balm
Inositol
Tart cherry juice

Avoid food dyes, caffeine, sugar, msg, screen time, blue lights.

I tried all the routines mentioned above .. and no adhd. If I let them stay up like yom tov they have no problem being up until 1 in the morn and never seem tired. They wud also not fall asleep on a two hour car ride late at night ..when other kids I know wud fall asleep on the way home from school that’s a 10 min drive!!
