My child needs a root canal and the regular pediatric dentist doesn't want to do it because it's a permanent tooth. So we finally found a general dentist that doesn't have a 6 month wait list for an appointment, paid cash for an additional exam, only to be told that they need to see a root canal specialist. I spent hours upon hours on the phone trying to find a dentist, but I'm having no luck!!! The child has terrible dental anxiety as it, and the regular dentist suggested to do it under sedation. But the pediatric sedation dentists don't work on permanent teeth & I can't find a regular dentist that does sedation or at least laughing gas. So now we're stuck & my child is in pain on antibiotics in the meantime. PLEASE HELP ME FIND A ROOT CANAL SPECIALIST that works with children. I am so stressed about this!
Thank you!!

You want to look for a pediatric endodontist. Call your insurance company for recommendations. If you want sedation your best bet is in a hospital. I used the NYU clinic for two root canals for a child in the same situation. BH he didn’t need to be sedated in the end but we had that possibility. It did take months to get the first appointment but they take most insurances so at least I didn’t pay out of pocket.

Dr. Kardon did a root canal for my Dd when she was 14. She's a great patient @ the dentist.
You could call Echo for a referral

He's the BEST. I take my kids to him from when they are babies. Dh and I also go to him.
Wait times can be long but he really knows his stuff. He knows my kids and us by make and has made himself available for emergencies numerous times. Bh I never had a root canal but dh has had a few and my children have all had baby root canals. He is tops.

Westchester dental, I went there with my son for exactly that, he didn’t end up needing a root canal so can’t give u feedback on the work itself but my experience was very good

No, because it's a permanent tooth.

This was a while ago so it may not have been pediatric, but you need an endodontist which is a root canal specialist so look for that, not all the regular dentists people are suggesting.
