Do I just send it in the email or as an attachment?
If it’s normally sent as an attachment, what type?

Send it as a word document, as an attachment.

Yes.

If it's seasonal, send it several months before the applicable holiday. That's when they start working on the holiday issues. If it's generic, you can send it in at any time. If they choose to accept it, they'll publish it whenever they have free space.

Also, if you get rejected from one magazine you can try another. Just never submit to same two different magazines simultaneously. If it's seasonal that might be a reason to submit even earlier. Because replies can take 6 weeks.

Ive had a similar question.
I’m not a writer but I wrote abt a medical saga I had with my son.
I was wondering if I should reach out and ask if it’s of interest to them or submit in the first place.

You can do either.

Sometimes I want to write when I only have my phone with me. I guess I really need to sit by a computer.

Send as a word document attachment, with a brief but well written query in the body of the email. The word document should be double spaced, with title and word count at the top.

Don’t drive yourself crazy to write a query for the frum magazines. A simple “Hi, see attached essay, story etc” will suffice.

Thank you!
I just realized that my current computer doesn’t have Microsoft Word!
I think I might want to purchase a laptop now instead of this desktop- specifically for writing.
I guess my writings will be on hold for a little bit longer.

dont think all this is necessary for frum magazines... I submitted something (that got printed) and it wasnt double spaced or anything.
just a professional, clean email and attachment is enough.

Was it typed on a word document or in the actual email?

in a word doc.
if youre submitting something you wanna make sure its a quality piece of writing that you edited and made better and reviewed a couple times, not just a few sentences that you quickly jotted down.
unless youre just talking abt a letter to the editor? but if youre talking abt submitting actual articles, these things get written in a word doc that you can format and edit properly. if it looks like a mess they probably wont take the time to read it.

Use Google docs
You can type from your phone
You don't need special equipment to write
