A bunch of girls living in apartment. WiFi is not working. Washer broke too (20 girls have to share the only working one). All the girls are lone bnot sherut, meaning they can’t go home for a weekend and do their laundry.
The girls have to wash their laundry by hand and air dry it. In between their shifts in a hospital where they all work…
Complaining to Haguda LeHitnadvut didn’t help…
Any ideas?…
The only dry cloths by DD has is her hospital uniform…

oy that sounds really stressful... it must be so hard for you to be far away and not able to physically help her out!!
do they have a rakezet?
in my day as a lone bat sherut (like 8 yrs ago) there were 2 organizations that were helpful, Here Next Year and Bishvil. Im not sure if they are still around but its worth checking out..
I also had a rakezet (through agudah lehitnadvut) that was amazing and super helpful when it came to fixing things in our apartment or getting us things that were missing...
good luck!! kol hakavod to your daughter and her friends.. sounds like its a pretty big sacrifice!

That's horrible- could you try the Michael Levin Lone Soldier center? I did have some help (years ago) as a lone bat sherut but I've found that for all the helpful Israelis, there are some (like whoever you got at the Agudah L'Hitnadvut) who can't see past the end of their noses to understand what it means for a 19-year-old to be in the country alone.

Op here. Thanks for the responses!
DD says that the rachazot are very nice, but kind of useless )))
They come to check if the apartment is clean and if the girls have a set schedule to clean the apartment.
People that come to a foreign country alone and choose to work in pretty demanding environment don’t need this kind of “help”.
They just need access to washing machine and WiFi…

That’s unfortunate, in my experience it’s the job of the rakezet to make sure those things are available but ok!

If they are on their own then fixing WiFi and a washing machine are technically things they can do on their own..
In terms of WiFi, do you know which company they have? It’s not too hard to call up the WiFi service and have someone fix the router or whatever needs to be done.
The washing machine may be a bit more pricey but I’m sure there are electricians in the area that deal with these things. What neighborhood are they living in? Maybe you can look online for a telephone number or they can ask neighbors or people around for recommendations? If they are 20 girls and can split the price it shouldn’t be too bad..

I was thinking about buy a washer/dryer for them, but it’s like a “government apartment” - they are not allowed to make any modifications there. I’m looking into a portable router that would belong just to my daughter so she can be in charge of it.
They are in Kiryat Moshe.

There are laundromats in J-m.

Second this. You can get their info online, it's located by machaneh yehuda near the train so not too far from them. They have washers and dryers that lone soldiers or bat sherut are welcome to use, and in general can be a good resource that might have ideas how to get this sorted out.

I live in Kiryat Moshe, people here can help the girls.

There is a laundromat on Yemin Avot St, which is close by. But that is just as a temporary solution.

For wifi, wour dd can get a USB modem which plugs into a computer from the various cell phone or internet providers, or use her phone as a hotspot. Again, a temporary fix.

If you write a message here that I can post, I can pass it along to the community whatsapps and/or the matnas to see who can help make sure that they get what they need.

Ladies, you are wonderful. I will tell my daughter Smile
I didn’t ask her permission to post that she and her friends are in need of anything, I was just so frustrated that I can’t help them from afar. (I texted her now, though it’s a midnight there).

If someone can post a link of how the USB modem looks and address of the store where it can be purchased in Jerusalem that would be super helpful…
And if someone has a small bookshelf or book rack to give away…
DD doesn’t mind buying it, the problem is to shelp it across the town, which she can’t…

Thank you! 🤩
