Do you think it's necessary to stand up for Birchos HaTorah? What about your dh/older sons?
I always thought everyone stands for the Brachos, but I just learned that in shul, many men do not and dh thinks it's not necessary. Wondering what everyone else thinks.

And then there are those who just stand up for Baruch Hashem Hamevorah l'olam va'ed.

Do you mean when I'm davening, or listening when the men are called up.to the Torah?
When I'm davening I stand up for Birkat haTorah, and for the whole of Birkat haShachar. When I'm in shul, I don't normally stand up for each aliyah. Occasionally as a show kavod for a particular person, like the Rav.

Oh, I was referring to Birchos HaShachar. Sorry I wasn't clear.

Oh. In that case, I stand. That's how I was taught and I'm pretty sure it's taught in BY.

I was taught to sit for birchos hatorah and stand for birchos hashachar. My husband says it is the other way round and it's a mistake taught in BY.
