Dd is interested in getting a degree in nursing. We looked into the accelerated programs with The New Seminary, Sarah Schenirer and TTI. She also hopes to go to seminary in EY next year. Can she get credits from seminary towards her degree? I know that there are very specific requirements for a degree in nursing. Also we probably qualify for financial aid but Fafsa will only pay towards one undergraduate degree and we don't want to use it towards credits that won't be useful towards getting her BSN. We could really use the financial help to pay for seminary and it would be nice to get a head start with college but unsure if a BA through TTI would be worth anything towards a degree on nursing.

Every program accepts a different number of seminary credits so best would be to reach out to each program directly.

This. Every program varies and every seminary varies as well

I believe I was told sarah schnierer offered a very accelerated program for nursing, I would inquire with them.

Although we personally did not qualify for Fafsa, it seemed counterproductive even of we would have when I looked into it. TTI would have given a 10k credit or so towards seminary and then charged 10k to complete a bachelors degree post seminary; in essence you still would be liable to pay 10k, only the following year.

My post seminary daughter is persuing a career not offered from these jewish programs. She opted to finalize her degree via genesis college; they accepted 90 outside college credits; she received sarah schnierer and tuoro credits from high school, over 40 from seminary, she also had many credits via study.com which she worked on privately...within 3 months post seminary and about $3600 she finished her bachelors degree in education and religious studies fully online...Nursing does require specific requisites. However for other fields, this was a great option.

Best of luck

FAFSA doesn't pay for anything. It's a form. What is with the chronic misunderstanding of student aid on this site?

I went to an accelerated BSN program after getting a bachelors from a CUNY college. They accepted 21 touro credits (from hs) and only 30 credits from sem as electives to go towards the 120 credits. I majored in psych- got my bachelors in two years, then went to NYUs 15 month program

I got told that they are super picky with what they accept and it’s basically not worth it to do out of system. I took one writing class which I called ahead and got told that they will accept it. Fast forward I went to college they said they didn’t accept it and I need to take the course again. I took the course and the next semester they told me I took it extra and now I have 2 of the same class. Rolling Eyes Can't Believe It

Not sure what its like now, but when I went to Touros nursing program about 15 years ago, they accepted zero credits, no matter from where.
Everything had to be done through their program

I went to a community college ten years ago. They only accepted 3 seminary credits, toward one elective. I was also able to do CLEP for one literature course. Everything else was very specific courses for anatomy/physiology, biology, even sociology had to be exactly their course.

I don't think Sara Schenirer has a nursing program. What they have is a Bachelor's in Psychology with medical prerequisites. Those might or might not be enough for a nursing degree, depending which one. I'm not aware of any frum programs for those with Bachelors to Bachelor's in Nursing.
TTI was supposed to be opening a nursing program. I doubt it could be completely online, so need to live near Lakewood.
The New Seminary usually doesn't transfer seminary credits. Maybe if you push hard. Theirs is a 3 y program.
Touro Flatbush recently started a 3 y Women's only Nursing cohort. They'll take high school college credits. Will also take seminary credits, but Nursing prerequisites are enough to fill all those 60 something required credits for BSN, in addition to 2 y of nursing school.
I don't see how FAFSA is affected. To get FAFSA for seminary, you have to go through a college, so it's like a year abroad. You can get it for seminary, then come back and apply for FAFSA for college.
