I know there was a thread that discussed this serial a while back but I haven't seen anything else. I am so annoyed at Estee's mother in this serial. She's literally destroying their marriage. Someone even wrote a letter to the editor a couple of weeks ago was saying that people should learn how not to act with their married kids. Curious to know what others think.

Every person in that story is like a caricature of whatever role they are portraying.
She has every single stereotype of the newlywed chutznik wife living in Israel.
He has every stereotype of the newlywed guy learning in the Mir.
It's very well done.

That's kind of the point of the serial I think. Estee's mother is the antagonist, iow, don't be like her.

Yes Lakewood
The mother is horrible you can label her with enmeshment or whatever you want she is doing a good job showing how a mother can really hurt a marriage.
While I am enjoying the story I do think it is too graphic with the pregnancy, shana rishona details especially given the fact it is in the Mishpacha and not the FF.

I started a different thread, I didn't see this.
Yeah, Esty's mother is too exaggerated to be taken seriously. It's pretty silly.

I never understood the point of these posts, yes the mother being enmeshed is the point of the story, if she is a great mother and the couple are going through Shana Rishona beautifully, then would be a pretty boring story. It’s fiction.

This goes back to the discussion of encouraging and facilitating our children to marry young. Some will thrive and jump into independence, but many will need financial and emotional hand holding. It’s normal for a very young, first time pregnant girl, who’s feeling sick and maybe nervous, to want her mother involved. Maybe the chosson teacher should be explaining this before the marriage?
