Just wondering why do ppl always use UberEats when you can get for cheaper by ordering on the store's website and get free delivery?? Even with the 40 percent off code Uber comes out more expensive! I live in Lakewood and someone pointed this out to me and I feel silly for using Ubereats (oh and I'm sure the store makes less money on the order through Uber).
Just thought I would let ppl know just like I didn't think of it till now.

I don’t live in Lakewood. Where I live, I believe all of our restaurants started using Uber eats, GrubHub, DoorDash, etc. It’s just easier for them. No one near me offers free delivery and has not for a long time.
If this is a lakewood specific thread, I’m happy to move it to the lakewood forum for you. Please let me know if that was your intention.

They don’t all have websites. I live in Lakewood, we need to use these apps for some stores.

If you think it applies only to Lakewood, go ahead and move it there. A lot of stores use Ubereats and Doordash etc, to try and get more sales, but from the consumers' perspective, it makes more sense to order from website. I checked a lot of stores and so many offer free delivery with an order of 30 dollars or more.

There is a restaurant in monsey that charges $18!!!! For delivery no matter how close/far
( 1.50 for pickup but that's a different story)
If you order on Uber eats, each dish is an $8 markup so it's not worth it.

In Monsey, restaurants charge $10+ for delivery. And other's use door dash or curbgo. There are always coupons on Uber eats, it comes out cheaper.

I usually compare the prices. A lot of the Lakewood places have set delivery fees. $15 is the norm for some places. Depending on your order, it may be more expensive going through the store.
Also, store delivery drivers aren't going out to you immediately. Your order may take time to arrive. I guess this will depend on how fresh you want the food and how long you have to wait.
Kitchen 1 is great if you work in the offices that it caters to.

If I own a small location and I'm just starting out, do I necessarily have the money to hire a driver or two who have their own cars and insurance and decent driving records that I can trust to take the food around and then I have to plot my delivery route and it won't necessarily be when you want. You might only have certain delivery windows only be able to deliver between this time and this time. And if I send out an order to your neighborhood and you order afterwards, I'm going to send a whole other driver out to you
Necessarily cost effective for me to hire delivery driver so I'll sign up with Uber eats, doordash GrubHub etc
But if the store has calculated that it's worth it for them to have their own delivery drivers. And they also want to do this for an extra convenience. Just use whatever makes no sense for you.

Cant speak for lakewood. In monsey most stores operate through the curbngo app and/or ubereats.
Curbngo’s delivery option is generally $15-20 while on ubereats I’m more likely to get free delivery etc. not everyone is on ubereats.
With curbngo, If im able to, I usually opt for curbside pickup to avoid the delivery fee. It’s not always a possibility though.

I live 12-15 minutes from the area where all the restaurants are. Some don’t deliver here regularly. Some have a different minimum dollar requirement for delivery every time I try to order. Some have an added delivery fee. I use Uber eats occasionally, simply because it’s less of a headache.

I’m in lkwd and shop ubereats often enough. The extra fees on top of the inflated prices make everything sooo expensive . I wonder if op is right.
Which stores offer free delivery when ordering on the website?

I don’t know about Lakewood but in Brooklyn they recharge tax on the total order and many times the prices are more to start with so it would be cheaper to order directly
