My younger kids get home at 2:30, and my older kids get home at 4 and 5. I am home in the mornings doing a mix of work (online) and housework. I let my 4 and 5 year old eat a mini-meal (like pancakes) on the couch at 2:30 until a few min before 4. They watch Jewish videos. I am wondering if this is ok/considered neglect/bad for their brains. I know they’re so young but it helps me so much to have this time to make dinner and get the house ready before I have the rest of my kids around and it’s really chaotic. I feel guilty.

An hour and a half every day sounds like a lot of screen time to me. Can you make dinner in the morning and have them help/watch you with housework?

It depends how much work I have but it’s often not possible to start before 2. And they aren’t helpful. One is ADHD and the other one eggs the other one on to make messes and create chaos.

I don’t think they would actually be helpful, more like it’s an activity to do after school and they think they’re helpful lol
Everything takes quicker and is cleaner without “help”

I agree it's too long. Research shows it really does affect their brains development when they're younger. I limit my dd to 20mins and avoided until she was about 4 or 5.
It's hard cos you're in a routine but perhaps gradually reduce/take them to the park.

I think it's fine. I'm in the same boat. Do your best and at least make sure they are learning good values from whatever they are watching. It's not neglect. You are feeding them and making sure they are safe.

Of course it’s not neglect!
The problem is when they’re used to looking at a screen it makes it much harder to concentrate on ordinary things because it’s so much less exciting for the brain.
My son went through a phase of too much screen time, I gradually cut it down until we’re down to about 0. His rebbe told me by PTA “ I don’t know what your doing differently but his concentration level in class shot up through the roof”
