Hi. It's been around 20 years since Monsey had a seminary. I believe there is a demand for a seminary that is not in Lakewood, Brooklyn or Eretz Yisroel. Anyone know why no one has been able to open once since the last one? Would be great if it it was half day or night seminary and girls could get a job during the day. Any ideas how to get this started? Would you potentially be interested in this? If you are, could you please sepcify whether you are litvish, yeshivish, heimish, chassidush, etc (I'm litvish/yeshivish btw)? Any other features you think the seminary would need to have to be something you would be interested in?

Seminaries in the US are usually branding to show that they are serious alternatives to sems in Israel.
Halfday and night options are therefore not very popular for girls who are not going to EY but want a legit seminary experience.
A full-time option in Monsey is no different then other places, you just need excellent teachers and a need.
Is there a current need for this?
Lakewood and Brooklyn were successful because they attract girls from all over the US, with options to dorm, so the girls come from different backgrounds and cities and adds the the seminary-feel.
If Monsey would open a seminary with that in mind it could be great.
But if its FOR the Monsey girls, many likely would not want to go as it would feel even less like a sem and more like another grade.

There is DEFINITELY a need for this.
I know many monsey mothers who bemoan having to send their daughters away for lack of better alternative. And with the way monsey is growing b'ah, the need will only grow.
I will also add, there is a tremendous need for only a night seminary/night program, similar to ohr Naavah in brooklyn. For post highschool girls in lieu of seminary, and for post sem girls who want shiurim at night.
Maybe Scheiners can open a program...

There was a Monsey seminary. I went to it. 15 years ago. It closed down a few years after that. It was half bais yaakov and half chassidish

Right except you said about 20 years and I was in it 15 years ago. And I know people who went after me for a few years.
I have no idea how to get it started again but when there was one it was a half day seminar

Oh ok. So anyone else know how to get this started? Doesn't have to have anything to do with the old one they had. Could be a branch of a different seminary in lakewood or brooklyn, etc.

Please do. I would 100% send. We're heimish but I'm okay in a BY setting as long as it's geared for strong serious growing girls with amazing staff.

I really would look into scheiners (18 forshay) to see if they could start a night program. They used to "only" have nonstop minyanim, shiurim and kolel for men (6000 daily visitors)....now I hear they also started doing shiurim during the day for women.
I can see them doing this
Or maybe see if ohr naava in brooklyn will open a branch?

I would speak to a few Rabbanim and principals, but first I would clarify what you want.
For Chassidishe girls, Heimishe girls, by girls or both?
Full day or part time or just night classes?
Are you trying to attract out of Monsey girls? Then you need a dorm
Will you allow Monsey girls to also dorm?
Just classes or also 'sem' with the trips and Shabbatons?
How much will it cost? Financial aid? College credits? Affiliated with a college?
I've seen a few places try to open in Lakewood and brooklyn but because theres no clear goal and statement, it ends up falling apart.

I think a day sem ( no dorm- gets much more complicated) with shabatons, trips, and college credits could really work. Strong BY plus heimish type can mix well. Maybe a few from Passaic would come too.

Monsey culture is highly specific. A successful monsey seminary would have to be run by homegrown talent, of which there is plenty

It’s really more of a 2nd year- kosher college with kodesh classes earning credits. Last I looked into it, there were no trips or shabbatons. Not a seminary experience at all, although it is a well run, expensive program where the girls can earn a lot of credits.

Is it a seminary at all? Do they take girls straight from high school? How can I find out more about the kodesh classes?

Is there a way to move this to the seminary info forum? If so how is it done?

Rabbi Royde has a night sem in Monsey. Can anyone who sent give a review on it? What type of crowd? Very academic? Do they give lots of tests? Being that it's a night sem the girls probably have day jobs so tests may be hard. Also would like to know the price and if those who sent felt it was worthwhile.
