I am trying to understand this- my kids are picky eaters. They like all the kids food but when it comes to eating suppers that I make they won’t try anything. Yesterday I made meatballs and pasta and both kids refused to touch the meatballs. When I was giving them a bath a little later I just knew they were still hungry so I decided to try to feed them meatballs in the bath and they were literally fighting over every spoon. It wasn’t even distracted eating, they wanted to eat and kept asking for more. What is up with that? Do I start feeding my kids in the bathtub (I onow, gross!) but was so satisfying to see them eat, with an appetite!

They probably just thought it was fun and different to eat in that environment
So try building off of that
Maybe they buy a special book that is for supper time only. Or a special cup for their drinks during supper time
Or a story tape playing in the background
Anything that will make suppertime exciting, special and something to look forward to

Maybe they just weren't hungry earlier.
But, one of my kids did go through a stage of only eating nicely while taking a bath. I didn't mind, I was happy he ate. He still is not a good eater.

I’ve done the bath eating before and they always eat beautifully. It wasn’t so different or exciting for them. And I know they were starving before because they were begging for supper. I feel like I’m setting them up for bad habits feeding them there but they eat so much better in the bath!

My son only ate dinner in the tub. Otherwise he would starve.
It lasted for a year approximately. From about 2-3 years old.
It was the most bizarre thing. He was the pickiest eater alive but somehow in the tub he ate so well.
Yes it’s gross and the strangest thing of life but what’s a mama to do with a boy that refuses to eat. Putting a starving child to bed every night is so much worse

I did this! My one year old refused to eat solids and one day I decided to feed him while he was in the bath. It was also meatballs lol. He gobbled up the whole thing! And a few days of bathtub dinners he started eating regular food in his high chair

So my kids are not babies. They’re preschool age. And despite doing it over the years, they still are impossible to feed at the kitchen table but amazing eaters elsewhere. Do I just keep doing this until they start bathing themselves?? 🙈

Are they hyperactive, distracted, overstimulated in the kitchen?
Baths are very relaxing. They can help ease the nervous system into rest and digest mode.

Why is it gross?

Water makes kids hungry and they are relaxed. I actually think its common to feed picky eaters in the bath.

I don’t teach it from a young age.

I thought it's not allowed to bring food into the bathroom?

I learned recently that the whole “don’t bring food into the bathroom” thing we were taught since preschool isn’t true

I think this comes from the days of old when there was no modern plumbing.
Now our bathrooms are pretty clean places and waste is flushed away.
So I wonder...

Makes sense.
In the county lots of moms fed their kids supper in the pool. Water makes kids ravenous.
