Teeny chocolate chips cake:
9 eggs, separated
2-1/2 cups sugar
2 T. Vanilla sugar
1 cup oil
1 cup orange juice
3 cups flour
3 tsp. Baking powder
3/4 cups teeny choc chips
Beat whites until stiff. Gently fold in ingredients in order. Add flour and baking powder and mix on pulse until combined.
Pour 1/3 batter, choc chips, another 1/3, and top with chops. Alternatively, you can just swirl it into batter.
Must use the teeny choc chips, otherwise will settle.

Most cakes do not need shortening, unless it's a specific dense cake, or one that has creams.
There is a conversion at the index to oil and you can also Google it. There are plenty recipes that don't require shortening at all.
From all my cookbooks, I find the Nitra cakes to be excellent recipes. (I do subtract some sugar though to our preference.)
