Exactly. The other night DH and I went out for a few hours and I know I closed my bedroom door. somehow it was open when I got home.
There is absolutely nothing in my bedroom that anyone needs. Now I know I have to lock it whenever I'm not home. No one needs the temptation to go snooping in my bedroom.

Curious what you think people are snooping for? Do you think they want to see your underwear?

People snoop for all kinds of things. Do you want your kids snooping through your bedside drawer?

We once did a house swap with someone from EY. It was actually a huge favor to them, they needed to be where we lived and we were in Israel for a simcha in a completely different area and they offered us to use their apt for a weekend.
Our apartment had 2 large bedrooms and we knew they had a bunch of kids. We locked one closet but that was it. When we got to their house they had locked up half the apartment including all the toys, books, kitchen and master bedroom. They had a small fridge and toaster in the dining room. Apparently their Rav said not to have an open kitchen with a house swap.
We slept in a tiny Israeli kids bedroom with tiny beds. I was absolutely appalled.
Never ever ever again.

Anyway my point is, if you are going to lock your master bedroom you need to have a very comfortable place for a couple to sleep in especially as they are doing you the favor.

People may have all kinds of pills and creams and what not. Adult toys and other outfits which are exclusively worn in bedroom. Also expensive chocolate for mommy that she doesn't want and need to share with anyone. Not to forget expensive perfumes and jewelry.
If your possessions are precious to you you lock them up.

As long as there’s nothing in your bedroom that they would need for your kids, sure lock it up

I think it's important to establish some boundaries in a home.

She's leaving her kids at home, it would be normal for one of them to try and go in.

The sil/bil? Why? Presumably everything they need is in the kitchen, bathroom, kids' rooms or guest room.

Sounds to me like she meant that one of the kids would try to go in
