My 6m old is going crazy around food. Anything she sees she wants. I’m not nursing clean anyway so I don’t care that she eats solids too but I can’t eat in peace. Everything she sees she cries for and gets.
Im a little afraid she’s gonna be one of these overweight kids without boundaries when it comes to food. Is this normal? Does it calm down? When can I expect to see change? I’m not sure. She’s my first one

This is the best stage to have a good eater! Give her 3 meals a day and she’ll be the happiest baby and the best sleeper!!
2 of my 4 kids were super duper chubby from like 6 - 24 mo and now they are suppppper thin!

That's great and healthy! She's hungry. Are you feeding her 3 meals a day?

Your 6mo isn't a food addict 😅
That's awesome that she's taking to solids so nicely! Some of us wish we had this "problem" 😉

Nurse first before giving her food, because at this age breastmilk should be the main source of nutrition.
She can definitely share your food if it's not a choking hazard, and preferably no added sugar and no/low added salt at this age.
If she is feeding herself I would not worry about her overeating.

It’s so yummy when they’re this way. Just feed her safe and healthy foods and don’t think into it much

OP it’s so odd to me that youre being triggered my your 6 month olds appetite. To call when a food addict (!!!!!!!) and to be worried that she’ll be overweight because she’s showing a normal interest in solids is really surprising. Put her in a high chair at the table and Let her join in your meal times. Offer her safe versions of whatever you’re eating. Look into baby led weaning. But most importantly think about and look into what’s really triggering you here and why

I don't know if to cry or laugh.
What causes overweight is sugar processed food junk food soft beverages.
Breakfast cereals with sugar chocolate milk powder etc.
You need to learn about nutrition.

That girl knows it's her "job" at the moment to triple her birth weight! It's a lot of hungry work!! At this point, it's not about limiting food but maybe limiting individual items, I.e., too many blueberries will make her poop, too much bread will be constipating, etc.

Op sounds like you have an eating disorder or for some reason are extra worried about one. I think you really should seek help now before you transmit these fears to your children and thereby create eating disorders.

Ironically, the best way to turn a young child towards obesity is to deny them access to good food at a young age.

They grow up resenting the pressures, and looking to rebel -- and it's very easy to get their hands on unhealthy food once they're not babies.

Na. It's ops first. Give her a break. Not everyone knows what's normal for babies.

Op, feed your kid real unprocessed foods.
Just make sure it's not a choking hazard. If you or dh has a family history of allergies. Add one new food each day and look out for signs and symptoms. If no allergies, etter to delay diary, and not delay nuts. (As per an allergist)
Make sure it's not a choking hazard.

Baby will learn herself to stop eating when she's satiated. She might stuff her face for a few weeks and even gag/throw up. But then she'll learn and regulate.

Let the kid ger FAT. It's too cute.

3 of my babies were super fat that age. They wore bigger sizes. But then once they started getting mobile, they all slimmed down. One kid where 2t as a 12 Mon and 4t as a 2 year old. But she wore 4t for almost 3 years. She slimmed up and grew tall filling the clothing that way.
It's super duper normal.

Don't worry. She'll do amazing!

She is developmentally right on target!
Please look into Baby Led Weaning so you have some ideas of how and what to feed her.

Start by feeding her at least two full meals a day.
This might just be a phase as babies are constantly growing and changing all the time.
Teaching children healthy eating habits and how to have a healthy relationship with food starts now.
Give her choices of what to eat and let her feed herself (finger foods)
There is absolutely nothing wrong with your baby!

Thank you!! People are so critical! Like as if I have an eating disorder cuz I had a question. My mother didn’t have babies when I was the age to understand and see things. I don’t have many nieces and nephews. And I never saw their eating habits. I was simply asking if this is normal or if this is a kid craving food. And that’s after being nursed and supplemented with a bottle. I’m totally okay giving her solids and sharing my plate. It’s fun. I just wanted to know if this is normal at this age. Apparently it is. I’m happy!

Keep asking because there's so much to learn. Asking "stupid" questions makes you smart. Not asking is what makes you stupid.

Offering your baby as much healthy unprocessed real food as they want doesn't contribute to obesity. Neither does nursing them as much as they want.

But there are studies that show that supplementing with formula more than necessary is correlated with obesity later in life. The theory is that you are tempted to make your child finish their bottle. And after they drink enough they stop because they feel full. But there is still formula left in the bottle. So you coax it and give it a little shake and they drink more. When you do that, you can be teaching them to override their their satiety cues. Of course, if you have a low supply you need to supplement, but even then you want to feed them till they're full and stop. Regardless of how many ounces they are "supposed to be drinking".

hoping u used the term addict in jest

Sounds like a normal 6 m old! Check out baby lead weaning on YouTube for food ideas and tips.

It also helps to do a breastfeeding session before each of babys meals so the food is a supplement instead of vice versa

OP you said addict, which could have been a joke, but then in the post justifying yourself, you said were worried your baby is 'craving food'. I think there is some work to be done there as to your own attitude to food and body image, for your children's sake if not your own. Cravings, addictions - these are all mental health issues - and your baby is six months old. What would a six month old with cravings mean to you?
