We are thinking of moving to staten island. Considering renting first to see if we like it.
Are there any large rentals around? Who can help out with rentals/purchasing etc ? Any good brokers to reccomend?

You can rent a house. Contact shua katz is good broker to begin with. Katz realty.

A family member recently purchased a large house there and is looking to rent it out for the next 2-3 years or so.

Only very slightly more expensive than Linden. Bear in mind that there are no childcare vouchers in Linden if that makes a difference to you - it’s NJ.
Also , last time I checked Shua Katz only deals with houses for sale. No rentals.
