Found out MS that it was a fire in prospect park. I woke up smelling smoke and rushed the family out of the house until I realized it wasn’t coming from our block, let alone house

There's a drought in a lot of the tri-state area, which means parks are more susceptible to fires.
There has been a big wildfire in Jackson over the past week and all the townships nearby were suffering from smoke.

Just saw the news saying New York thinks the smell is from Prospect park fire but it's really from New Jersey wildfire which is much stronger.
Here in NJ we're already waking up to this smell a few days, smells like burning plastic

I couldn’t sleep all Friday night because of it and my throat is hurting all day. I thought it was better but now I smell it again.

Can someone explain why it smells so strong in the morning and then don’t really smell
As much during the day? I’m referring to the Jackson fire

Now in Boro Park it smells really strongly again.
Is it because the fires got bigger? The wind direction?

Yup woke up in the middle of the night from the smell. I figured it was wildfires from Canada again because my alarms weren’t ringing and there were no sirens from fire trucks and smelled a lot worse outside than inside. Bh I fell right back asleep

Yes is was awful! The smell of smoke is extremely irritating to me physically and knowing this isn’t someone’s fireplace or bonfire that’s ending soon really messes with my mental health.
