Hi!
I am currently 6 months pregant with twin bh! I never had a baby nurse before but I am probably going to need this time around! These babies have a bunch of older siblings and I will need all the help I can get!
I have never done this before so here are my questions. any help would be appreciated!
1 . Do I need a specific nurse for twins?
2. If yes, how do I go about finding one if im not telling anyone that its twins?
3. how early do I need to hire someone? Should I be looking for one already?

Also, totally unrelated, but if anyone has ideas on where I can get twin baby supplied second hand, I would appreciate it! We dont buy anything before babies are born but would love to start looking around...
TIA!

Congrats on the twins!
I’m due shortly with twins iyh and I still don’t have a nurse. The agencies all say to call back once they are born. Have same issue as you as not wanting to ask others about it… I’m hoping it all works out in the end…

Yikes I am so bad with the wait and see approach. I like when things are planned out
Did the agencies say anything about having someone specific for twins?

Also keep me updated with who u use and if your happy! Maybe I'll take her after you LOL

How long are you planning to have a nurse?
Option one is to call an agency as soon as you give birth. It’s hit or miss and you might have to keep on trying until you are happy. Option two is to ask around for a nurse without saying it’s twins. Lots of nurses have worked with twins. If someone has a recommendation you can ask her yourself. If she is working for someone you know and is very talkative you might not want to say anything.
If she ends up not being great with twins you can look for someone else but in the meantime you have another adult helping you.

I know in NY insurance wil pay for a nurse. Check your insurance to see if they will provide help

Same but I don’t really see an option at the moment… They definitely have ones that work with twins more often and ones that do both. For twins, they all charge more.
Unless I don’t find anyone I like I plan to keep a nurse till they sleep through the night and till the weather starts getting warm again that I don’t feel stuck in my house all day with them…

You can try to ask friends and family for recommendations and then call up the nursery to see if they have experience and if and when they are available. Many of the really good ones are usually booked as they get passed around from one family or friend to another.

As for Twin things the Twin Z pillow is amazing if you nurse and even if you don’t.

Baby Bottle Feeding Pillow - not specifically this one but something like this: (you need 2, one for each baby)
Yiiektily Baby Bottle Holder, Adjustable Nursing Pillow Support, Baby Self-Feeding Bottle Holder, Newborn Essentials, Baby Self-Help Hands-Frees Bottle Holder, Baby Self-Feeding Pad

If you’re planning on only or mostly formula feeding the baby Brezza formula mixer is amazing.

Definitely a good camera (or 2 depends how you situate them in the room) to watch the babies while the nurse is in the room with them. (Don’t forget for Shabbos you can’t have one that is uses a phone or tablet as the screen, so or have 2 types or just the one without - many have both cuz they like to check up on the baby/babies while they’re out doing errands etc. ) A camera with a nurse is an absolute must! You want to be able to see if they’re being safe/attentive/caring etc.

Also once you get a nurse please do fire her if you don’t click or you don’t feel your kids are safe around her. (Just say sorry, I can’t afford you anymore/my parents can’t pay anymore etc.)

I am so confused!
I spoke to 2 nurses who wanted $300-$350 a day
then I spoke to an agency and it seemed that including all their fees etc it comes out to way less a day!
But I am terrified to rely on an agency because they wont book in advance and what if they have no one available?
Also I would really like someone I can speak to before hand and feel comfortable with.
Does it make sense that freelance nurses charge so much more?

Did you have your babies yet?
Please keep me updated as to how it works out!
