Sapphire, I liked this message. Why was it anonymous? I'd love to see Sapphire's history for more great messages like this. Instead, Sapphire is hiding but wants to read everyone else's profile. No thanks.

But some questions are inherently personal |
And that is why topics like mental health, emotional health, shalom, bayis, financial and shopping I think are still anonymous enabled.
Things that aren't inherently private overall are not. I know for instance recipe collection is not private and some people won't post there because they have a very unique recipe that gives them away. But overall it's really not a private thing so therefore it is not private. If you have a major issue on why, something should or should not be private, you can either start a thread in the feedback forum or you can message yael directly.

I still miss it.
I used it not to stalk but to here and there check on a poster to see if she recently posted or things like that.

This conversation sounds like most people don't want poster history brought back, but if you look at the poll, it shows otherwise!

It's almost like it kinda lines up with people who enjoy just participating anonymously also wanting the ability to see everyone else's history, without actually putting in their own comments with their own opinions under their own screen names

Cant we make it optional? Let people enable/disable it as per their preferences.

Not everyone feels strongly enough about this to comment after voting.

It was a creepy feature. And it affects high frequency posters and ppl who have been long time members the most. It's always the quiet ppl checking out poster history. Who cares?! Who has time for this type of research on someone you don't even know!

This illustrates part of people's hesitancy to have posting history. The ones who want it are often (not always) the ones who also value their own privacy.

I guarantee you that the people who must under their username most of their time will disable it. And the anonymous ones will disable it. So just disable it for everybody.

Because only the posters don't want it back.

Only if I know to bookmark it. If I post a recipe I don’t bookmark it. Then 5 years later I have to start searching for my sugar cookie recipe. (Actual scenario).
There is the my posts option on the menu to find all my posts but it isn’t searchable if you have 1000s.
I used to be a very active poster under my username until someone I hadn’t spoken to in 20 years figured out who I was. So I just stopped posting under my name unless I have to.

Having poster history enabled made me feel really unsafe. There was so much stalking going on.

I already have a bad vibe from many (not all) specific serial posters on here who come on every single day. I wish they would be anonymous so I wouldn't have to look at their photo and screen name. It's an online forum. I came on here to socialize anonymously to help others, not to be your friend or get to know you.

You probably have a bad vibe for me too. I come on multiple times a day and while I always post my truth, a lot of people don't appreciate it.
Is it better that I only use my screen name occasionally?

There is a way to block certain posters. I can't remember how, but maybe a mod can show you.
( I've done it🤷♀️, you will see it if someone quotes them though)
ETA, I've posted on this thread/ forum non anonymous, but I don't want anyone to know that I've blocked usernames...

No one who knows me would think I could pull this off, or would want to. Once was enough.

Would be useful to be able to see my own anonymous posts though. |
Same here
I had stopped posting under my screen name after I was able to figure out who someone is 2x by looking at their history. And I’m not a detective, it was simple.

I miss it in some ways but am wary of it in other ways. I would love a compromise where you can see a person's history over the past week but not earlier. That way nobody's dredging up some drama that I shouldn't have gotten involved with 10 years ago, but you can get some context for what's going on now.
