Like another poster said, 170 at your height is not that huge. You probably are small by nature because with your eating habits I'd probably be over 300 lb at your height. I was 160 while eating really well just a bit too many calories & also exercising.
I would suggest you start the day with just eggs & coffee & stop eating after 6-7pm.

How do you get the shots? Does the dr have to prescribe? Can I buy online? I see so many ads… |
Why would you do that if you don't have a serious weight problem? There are potential known & unknown side effects that may be worth the risk if your weight is likely to effect your health. But to do if for 20 extra lbs? I can't imagine it being worth the risk.

Because I’ve been trying to lose the 20 pounds for 20 years and I just can’t do it no matter what.

Maybe you should just accept those pounds rather than do something with unknown risks.
I find it astounding that our community was so anti and scared of the covid vaccine but is embracing these weight loss drugs.

Maybe
But first it was an extra 8 pounds
Then 12 pounds
Which became 15 pounds
And is now 20 pounds
So over the years the weight is only going up despite the fact that I’ve been doing weight watchers and IF for 20 years.
For 20 years I’ve tried and have only gained.
I don’t want to keep gaining.

Stop eating by a certain time every night (whatever isn’t to overwhelming after supper) and sticks to it like it’s before havdalah.
You will feel so much lighter going to sleep.
And cut out those empty late night calories.

I’m close to your weight but only 5 ft.
I just finished eating for today.
I did not eat well but I’m done aside for some water later.
I’m full because I ate too much.
I’m happy to know that at least I won’t be eating anything else until tomorrow morning.
Here what I ate-
Breakfast
Coffees with Splenda and almond milk
Sterns mini chocolate danish
Snack
A few Shibolim whole wheat crackers and sugar free cranberry juice
Lunch
2 hard boiled eggs
A slice of Muenster cheese
Fat free cottage cheese
Shibolim whole wheat crackers
Sugar free cranberry juice
Snack (again because I’m always looking for something to eat!)
Homemade peanut butter granola bar
Then went out and came home hungry so ate a mini chocolate chip muffin (pas- pre packaged)
Supper
Rice cakes with melted cheese
Hot cocoa made with Splenda
And done!
Full bH
Maybe 6 is early to be finished eating for the day but I like to eat breakfast when I wake up at around 7:50-8

ty to all your tips. as an update I decided to try some of the glucose goddess tips.
veggies first
then protein and fat
then carb
I also tried drinking diluted acv before meals. I did one cup before breakfast and ended up with horrible diarrhea. gonna have to skip that one.
also going to try for more water
and to stop eating by 8 pm hopefully will live closer to 7 eventually.
today I ate:
breakfast:
broccoli
eggs
small slice of sourdough and butter
coffe with some chobani creamer
lunch:
mini peppers
cottage cheese cup
half slice sourdough
snack I got starving and ate a bag of entemenrs little bites. I know it’s embarrassing. added a string cheese to help balance lol
for dinner my husband decided to order dinner for the kids and us. just my luck lol. I tried so hard and ordered a grilled chicken platter with rice and sautéed veggies. I will try to avoid the chicken poppers and cauliflower poppers he ordered but prob will have some
it’s so tiring putting so much thought and mental energy into my food. so much easier not to think…

lol! I usually eat more! Like a sandwich for lunch and a proper dinner. I was trying to be “careful” since I gained a few pounds over Yom Tov.

Try eating a bigger breakfast and lunch and smaller supper. You don't want to get so hungry during the day that you lose control by suppertime. Btw you need three servings, or 1 tablespoon, of healthy fat every day. This can be in the form of avocado, nuts, seeds, tahini, oil, or peanut butter. 1 fat serving is about 6-7 almonds or two whole walnuts or a teaspoon of peanut butter or of oil. Fat helps you absorb fat-soluble nutrients vitamins like vitamins D and A and helps you feel satisfied. Don't skip it!

What's your financial situation? There is at least one and maybe more than one kosher prepared-meal-and-snack daily delivery service that does all the brainwork for you. It's not a permanent solution, but if you can hack it for a few weeks or months, it may help kickstart your weight loss and give you some confidence till you regain the headspace to plan and prepare your own meals.

Great effort! But I think you're taking on too much too soon before you reach burnout.
Ideally, you want to build habits that you'll continue even after you lose the weight.
In order to do that, you want to take real baby steps in which it takes barely any mental energy.
Take one thing from the above list, and incorporate it for a week or two.
You need to have a) a measurable action b) a time to do it, and c) reach 2 days of doing it without thinking, before moving onto the next new habit to make real change.
Example:
amother OP wrote: | ty to all your tips. as an update I decided to try some of the glucose goddess tips.
veggies first
then protein and fat
then carb |
a) measurable action: veggies first (ignore the protein/fat and carb order)
b) a tim to incorporate: at supper
c) reach two days of eating veggies first at supper without thinking much about it (usually happens around the two week mark)
Then, add in either a new habit, or incorporate this habit into another time of your day.
Yes, it will take time. But also, it will 1000% give you long lasting results in the long run.
I know it seems tempting to try it all at once, but really - this actually works.
I also recommend reading the book Atomic Habits by James Clear, where he really explains this method of change - it can work for anything btw.
Hatzlacha!!
