Not a major difference between Medicare.
Medicaid has different rules in NY/NJ and yes, from what I know they are very very different

Medicare is really a national program , while Medicaid is totally run by the states with some federal input.
NJ and NY Medicaid are very different. If you need specific services. Be careful. In general, NJ covers less services and less top doctors.

are there specific services that aren't covered in NJ that are an issue?

One of the biggest differences is that in NY it's possible to get 24 hour homecare for someone.
In NJ it is impossible to get more than 40 hours a week. Even getting 40 is hard.
If you're moving make sure you have a plan for when you may not be able to care for yourself if you don't want to end up in a nursing home.
