Would you recommend the field? Why or why not?
How is it different from how you expected?
I know it's a lot of work for the commissions that you get. I know it's not a grt rich quick scheme

It's slow dollars vs quick nickels. It's a a lot of hard work. You have to know where to advertise to get the kind of people you're looking for. And you have to know what kind of people you're looking for.

I don’t recommend it.
You have to deal with the nasty side of many people who are blinded with money.
You can be super erlich and do everything right but other agents who don’t get what they want because you can’t always please everyone can get VERY dirty. Very…

That’s a good question, because yes - been doing this for a few years now and I do feel that people have become more aggressive recently. That might be because the housing market is tighter yet the amount of agents has greatly increased. Interestingly, it seems like a lot of the super aggressive agents are actually new to the area themselves…
It is hard as a buyers agent when you look and look for houses and finally find something the client likes but then the house goes to someone else. Things get very competitive with some people not being very erlich…
But particularly when I have a listing and am representing the seller - people take killing the messenger very seriously lol.
Fellow frum agents have blamed me for not presenting their offer - going as far as to send VERY nasty text messages that can make me cry all night and going as far as ‘reporting’ me to non Jewish authorities. When in fact I totally had presented their offer but the seller for whatever reason decided otherwise. I know I’m not the only one this happened to.
Also , I’ve seen frum agents blackmail others. Not to me personally but I’ve seen more than one case.
That said, I’ve met so many nice people too and the parnassa is supporting me - the negativity can overwhelm which is why my gut response was no way. But if you can look past all that, many people - clients and agents , are a pleasure to work with too.
It took me about 3 months to get my first paycheck. That includes acquiring the client (it was a buyer) , finding houses to look at, getting offer accepted, and following through until the end of the closing process.
At that point I felt it was worth it to continue because the amount I earned from that closing was just a bit more than what I had been making at my office job I was at previously in that timeframe.
