it's one of these tekufas again.
my il'sare into wine and brandies on shabbosim and yom tov.
whne ever we go I have a hard time keeping ds1 away from alcohol, he takes the bottle of wine and pours a cup, I tell him no and he kicks up a fuss.
my fill needs dry wine as he once had a heart attack so it's good for him.
they will be coming again succos, how can I keep ds1 away from alcoholic bevereges?? btw purim was really bad tro the point he nearly got drunk.
I try to tell him it's unhealthy and dangerous but he won't listen...

don't know if this would work cuz if he really wants it, he'll go find it and get it himself but I would not leave it on the table and ask FIL to pour himself his wine elsewhere and then if it's out of sight maybe your son won't be tempted. also, I would explain to him that some things are only for older ppl...

It's very simple...the answer is NO. How old is your DS again? I don't keep any alcohol in the house (we use grape juice for kiddush).

I think you need to explain to your sons about the effects alcohol can have especially in young children. By that I mean specific details and stories... I find it best to be open and honest with children. (I too drink wine with my meals and by my family alcohol is always on the table.)

not sure - but with all the yom tov drinking it's hard not to be tempted ...
I would give him a limited amount for kiddush and that is all ...
I find that if I hold back - they would sneak and drink and drink and drink some more ...
you have to keep your eyes wide open ...

Rabbi Yaakov Horowitz writes about this around Purim time. The last line is precious:
Drinking on Purim

How old is your son? try talking to your son about the effects of alcohol on children (like ladygodiva said) and if you're having a hard time keeping him away than lock it up and don't drink wine etc in front of him serve grape juice instead.

I'm going to differ with many on this-
let him have a bit. YOU pour it. Tell him- here you can have a taste.
When these things are kept just out of reach, you're begging for trouble. Teach him how to approach wine. Tell him about body mass vs alcohol and that the amount you give him is the right amout for his body otherwise he'll get sick. The only way one learns how to drink resposibly is under the supervision of responsible adults.
