I find physical touch holding child on lap cuddling in morning but how do you open channels of communication for children age 2-10?

There’s no one right answer to this. It depends on your love language, and the child’s. I like to explore common interests (like one kid likes animals, one dd likes interior design) and just talk to my kids about what interests them.

Spend quality time with them, individually.
Listen to them. With eye contact.
When they come home from school, stop what you are doing, and give them a cheerful greeting. Ask them about their day and listen, without asking questions or interrupting.
Do errands with one child at a time if you have the occasional luxury to do so, converse in car and in store.
Ask them their opinions on things.
Did I mention listen to them?
Validate their feelings.
Make them feel valued and important.
