I would look for down coats if you want a warm one. The scotch bonnet and pramie are both fully down but a bit pricey. I think they are good for tristate area but not for colder areas.

When I had a baby that small I just used a 7am on the doona. Had a blanket as an extra layer for super freezing days.

Gap has there coats rated for how warm they are
Buckle me coats are a brand of coats specific for car seats that are also rated by warmth

Not all of us live in and out of cars. My baby is in a carriage upper body needs to be covered even if there is a bunting on carriage . Warranting a coat (and hat)

Do you have buntings/footmuffs for walking? then a Zara coat is enough.
I did a Zara coat for that age. It was a small walk to sitter or shabbos visit to my parents. I didn't need a down.

My stroller had another 7am and it zipped all the way up.

But yes I know. Everyone has different lifestyle needs. Was just pointing it out as an option to consider.
