Id like to splurge on myself for a good pair of AirPods.
Which model is best? I don’t need the latest, but really need a good sound quality and somewhat water resistant.
I’d prefer to stay below $150, but if I get significant better quality/features I need then I’ll add $.
(I put apple in the title, but if there’s a super great pair that’s not Apple & cheaper- then I’m in)
Tia!

I just got the 4 with Active noise cancelling.
A major improvement on the 2. And the 2 was hands down better than every other major brand I tried.
(I prioritize mic quality for phone calls over music, though. Don't really notice music quality personally.)

Yes, mic quality is what I need. I don’t listen to music often, but need it for work phone calls.
So just to clarify, mic quality is much better on the 4 or the noise cancelling? (Or both?)
Is that the pro or not?

The 4 with ANC. That's what it's called. It's brand new.
Microphone is better on the airpods than other brands. The ANC and fit on the 4 is worth the upgrade. Personally didn't find the pro comfortable.
They don't stay in great though, so not good for exercise. I found myself adjusting them every so often and if I'm walking around they sometimes fall out.

Do you know what the difference between that and the pro is? Is it just the shape?

I just got the Ipod Air Pro 2 and they are pretty amazing.
They have a lot of abilities to adjust to different sound environemnts when used with an iphone. I have no idea how the interface with Android software. I can block noise - still be able to hear what is going on - boost conversations.
I bought last week because the most amazing aspect is that they were just approved by the FDA as an over the counter hearing aid for people with mild or moderate hearing loss. With an iphone Pro you take a hearing test that has been compared to the one you would get from an audiologist and the the Air Pods calibrate to the test results just as is done if you have it done in person with more expensive hearing devices.
The results are pretty amazing as I was using them today and became aware - for better or worse of sounds I hadn't heard before like my A/C turning on I am most looking forward to being able to hear conversations in a noisy environment.
They aren't meant for people with severe hearing loss but I have been on some of the forums and people with real hearing aids say that they are compare pretty favorably to their "real" ones that cost thousands.

My DH swears by the Sony WF-C700 earbuds. The mic quality is fantastic.
