I’ve been reading a few financial threads lately and have been curious.

Income is definitely higher or lower depending on the state you’re in and the stage of life you’re in. Feel free to add comments on where you’re located, how many kids you have, or your stage in career

Pretax household income is you and your dh’s (if married) salary combined before taxes.

Some of the poll numbers are wrong and I can’t edit. Mod feel free to change if it’s an issue

What’s the point there’s always more poor than super rich. Middle class really doesn’t matter how much you make but more what stage you’re at. Just trying to figure out what knowledge your trying to gain with this poll

I have no idea how much money my husband earns a year and neither does he. He is a private electrician and he gets paid per job. He does not work for 1 company. When people in the community need an electrician they call him and pay him money. When he needs to pay his bill he uses his money to pay the bills. People do not believe that he has no idea how much he earns but he really doesn't know how much he earns. Also every month he earns a different amount, sometimes he works more and sometimes he works less.

How can he not know? You don’t pay taxes on it? You are supposed to keep track of each job and how much they paid you.

My husband also doesn’t work for anyone but he knows exactly how much he makes.

He has to. He has to make sure he covers quieter times during the busy ones. He needs to know what he’s missing.
He also takes a set amount every week so that we have the minimum to pay bills. This sounds extremely reckless of your husband, financially.

It's a good idea to keep cheshbon not only for maaser but also budgeting in general. U will feel more freedom to spend if you know how much you make

Does he work entirely under the table— doesn’t report any income?

I believe it’s upwards of $500,000 but I’m not sure. My husband had multiple business ventures (bh bh bh bh all successful) and I am a sahm. He files taxes, I don’t even look.
