Tehila applications are in November. Email them now and ask to be put on the list. Send in your application the day you get it.

Yikes but how does that work? Do I need to give tehila an answer pretty quickly?

Dd first choose is CBY but what if she gets into tehilia and not CBY?

Would love to know the difference between these two camps

bumping this up as interested in both of these options. Yeshivish simple type here.
Is CBY extremely big? Which camp would be better for a girl in 9th grade going for the first time?
I would consider BRC as well but understand it's harder at this age.

I sent girls to both Tehilla and CBY. Similar crowd, simple yeshivish. CBY is a very big camp; Tehilla is a small camp which has benefits and drawbacks. It is really nice that the campers are not anonymous, not just one girl in a mass of campers. They are known personally, can really make a difference on teams, etc., and develop a real camp loyalty. On the other hand, campers are not anonymous and if the staff is unhappy with a camper they will not allow her to return. I know several girls who were not reaccepted/reaccepted on probation. Their infringements probably would not have been noticed in a large camp.
Other differences: Tehilla gives a lot of swag, CBY gives nothing.
CBY facilities/bunkhouses are much nicer.
CBY has more activities on ground (waterslides, trampolines, etc.) but I think only goes on one trip. Tehilla has more sports (although it is not a competitive sportsy crowd) and goes on a few trips.

Yes I think they are probably similarly priced now.
I sent to Tehilla since 2019. At that time Tehilla was about $500 less than CBY, but I think CBY gave generous breaks to eligible families.
Tehilla has since raised their prices quite a bit, while CBY only raised prices a little, but now gives much smaller breaks (say $100 instead of $500). So I think they are in the same range, not sure exactly, prob a little over $2500.

ETA I sent my younger DD to CBY this past summer bc Tehilla stopped taking 6th graders. But my older DDs are no longer campers so I can't compare exactly

Interested in info about other camps with similar demographics too (sorry if this is a slight hijack but since we're here already...). DD is in 7th grade and never went to camp before so we probably need to apply to several places for better odds.

It's on the same grounds as maarava (in Indiana) but it is first half and maarava is second half. My niece went this past summer and had an amazing time. I think it's a similar crowd to CBY.

Yes, but in tehilla the the head staff know the campers by name, it's not just a matter of counselors reporting. I know girls who were not taken back because a staff member once saw something that she didn't like, and no, these were not troublemakers. It's a small camp so they are very careful with the crowd and if a girl for example is spotted once wearing short socks (under a long skirt) she will be blacklisted.

Just clarifying that I sent multiple DDs to Tehilla and I think it is truly a wonderful camp. They thrived in the close-knit atmosphere. But if a girl tends to bend rules it may not be the best place.
