My house is a chronic disaster. I've had it!

I'm decluttering, starting right now with my walk in closet.

Who's joining me in decluttering or just sticking around to support me?

Good for you!

Can you post how many items you’ve gotten rid of?

I’ll be here to cheer you on and get some inspiration

Make sure it's gone and invisible before hubby and kids come home.think nearby dumpster. Neighbors can. Direct to sanitation department. Obviously with approval. In a pinch burry at bottom of can

I cleaned a room shared by 8 yr old girl and 6 yr old boy had 2 - 30 gallon garbage bags plus large bag to donate.
Then did teen sons room and got a 15 gallon garbage bag.

Dh couldn’t understand were all the garbage was coming from.

Was such a good feeling. Still have much more to go.

Why throw out? Most things can get donated.

I will get rid of it, bottom of the Can. I'm throwing out dh's slippers that he bought 5 years ago and wore once. Do you think I can throw out ties he hasn't worn in years or should I leave that for him to go through?

I'm saying goodbye to all my beautiful lingerie that I got when I got married. It will never fit me again. Sniffle sniffle brings warm memories.

I’ve learned not to throw out anything of dh without his permission. Set aside time in a Sunday to do together. Like if you make a pile and let him choose.

You inspired me! I just organized 3 of my kitchen drawers. Threw out extra medicine syringes and extra chopsticks that weren’t used and put away for another time too many months ago. Tossed a spatula and ice cream scooper that weren’t used for too long.
Yay me!
And you!!! Let’s hear updates!

Thank you all for sharing. It helps me stay motivated.

I filled 2 garbage bags of clothes to donate. And I hope you're sitting down for this part....are you sitting??? ok, good, and 5, yes FIVE, 13 gallon garbage bags filled with trash. DAMA (that's don't ask me anything lol) I'm mortified but the craziest part is that I'm not even finished and this is just my closet, forget about the rest of my room!!

Not sure, every once in a while I see ads in the local circulars for clothing donations. Some of them even come pick up.

I know you said not to ask, but I am wondering what you considered trash-worthy. Is it stuff you feel no one would want at this point, like old or worn out? I presume you weren’t hoarding actual trash in your closet.

I suppose it would be best if you don't presume anything.
I have a ridiculously oversized walk in closet. It could literally fit a crib and still have plenty of space for my stuff. Whenever I can't think about where to put something away or what to do with it or something I'm not using right now, into the closet it goes. So use your imagination....

Ok, that’s still not actual trash. It’s an extremely oversized junk drawer, so to speak. Kudos to you for making so much headway. Can’t have been easy.
