My son loses focus in class, I've been hearing it the last few years but now it's getting really important since they're learning from inside the sefer
He's smart and he generally knows his work bh
I checked his vision and hearing twice and its ok. I got tiny prescription for reading but wasn't really necessary and didnt help him much.
I just feel like hes restless and pretty active, a bit weak in reading because he doesn't have patience. how can I improve him focus? maybe he needs some specific help- ot, p3? (I applied last year and he didnt get approved)
how can I help him?
thanks in advance!

Pay out of pocket for therapy even though it costs a fortune :/
Go to specialist eye dr in Staten Island to rule out eye issues
Much Hatslacha

Go not to an eye doctor but to a functional eye specialist to rule out eye focusing issues.
The other option is a form of ADHD.

Functional/developmental vision exam with a vision therapy certified optometrist

Fish oil, magnesium, methylated b vitamins, possibly gaba and l tyrosine

Complete thyroid panel to check for hidden thyroid issues

Reflex integration therapy

Nutrient dense, clean diet low in sugar and free of msg and food dyes

Yeast and parasites gut cleanse

How's his sleep? Address snoring/mouth breathing/apnea if that's an issue

Thanks for all responses! Is it an issue I really must look into? After all, hes so young, not even 6 yet.... Dont get me wrong, I evaluated him, did several eye/ear exams, im trying really hard but im wondering if I need to really follow through medically or hes simply a little boy?
What do you ppl think?

This was my DD. At 4 years old we started OT, that was a bandaid for about 2 years till we realized she really can’t keep focus. Then we did a board of Ed eval and even thou she was weak in many areas, there wasn’t enough of a discrepancy and she didn’t get a diagnosis and didn’t get approved for any services.

FF to now she’s in 2nd grade and she’s barely learning. There’s a woman working in my girls school who’s part of the special Ed department and she guides mom. She’s so helpful I wanna kiss her. She went thru the BOE report with me and we saw that her auditory Scores are weakest and it make be a processing disorder. I’m in middle of having her evaluated and I still might be a neuro exam to see if it’s inattentive ADHD.
That’s where we’re holding …

She’s very weak auditory and it really translates to what she knows and doesn’t know.
Her kriah isn’t bad. Her reading isn’t bad either (but comprehension isn’t great) math is her strongest subject - all visual.
Parsha is a lost cause, can’t answer a single question and anything the teacher says that isn’t written ex: the homework sheet says page 2, it’s a mistake - I will not get that message.
The teacher told me she tells the girls everyday todo the Chumash homework with a chumush not with the work sheets and my daughter never repeated that. I wonder if she ever heard it

Might be inattentive ADHD…
Ironically DD is my easiest child. Super sweet, very helpful. Lovesss my baby. Always down to help, has a smile on her face at all times. Is LOVED in day camp .. kinda sad that a girl like this has to suffer in school.
The school is so cute, they leave me messages that my daughter has so much chein. I’m not sure if I should laugh or cry
