And if yes how do you keep it there?
Does rain ruin it?
Any downsides to it?

Any info would be much appreciated!

I had mine there for one winter. In the end I had to take it inside because it became all frosty and the door didn't close. Yenne parsha!

So why am I hearing that so many people keep freezers on their porch?
That's the only place I can store one right now and I'm afraid.

I also had a freezer on my porch and it only caused me trouble. I also had to bring it into my house.

As the previous poster said, I had icicles all the time.

The motor can’t really handle the extreme weather, especially the freezing cold.
Perhaps they have a closed porch?
It’ll significantly shorten the lifespan of the freezer

Freezer on my covered porch. Roof is sloped and slatted so rain comes in but not a ton. I'm in Israel so lots of rain in the winter, extreme heat in the summer, never extreme cold.
I've bH never had any problems.

For how many years do you have this arrangement?
What brand? High tower freezer or "bathtub" model?
Asking cause I am planning to buy one myself.

They use a lot more power outside in the sun than they do inside. When there's no other space, you just have to pay the higher bills.

We have a freezer on our covered porch. We were told that it shortens the life time a bit but we have it for 4 years and so far we don't have any issues. And we get a proper winter and summer here.

My in laws have a freezer on their porch. It does get icy inside but does the job. They have a lock on the freezer to prevent theft, not sure if this is an issue where you live. I wonder if the lock also keeps ice out of the door, since some have mentioned that the ice made the door hard to close.

I recently bought a freezer and in the specs it said what external temperature it could handle. Just look that up and see if it's compatible with winter temps where you live.

I know many people that have a freezer on their porch with no problem. Look into freezer covers. It's to cover the fridge or freezer outdoor and protect.

Does it protect against heat?
