Does it make any sense?
What outerwear do I even need?
I am so into outerwear I have every kind.
Now I feel like finally getting myself a faux fur coat (or a short jacket) but planning aliya next year so will I even get to wear it?
Israeli fashionistas help me out!

Seems silly to me to have a fur coat in a Mediterranean country.
It gets cold but not that cold. A regular winter coat is more than enough.

Seems like an impractical choice to me.
A good winter coat here should probably be waterproof, since winter can get very rainy here.
It's also not *that* cold, so it's probably overkill.

Not practical at all. I lived in rbs for four years. I can count on two hands the number of times I even wore a winter coat. You can get by there with a sweater and light coat most of the winter. *Maybe* in yerushalyim but even there you'd never need it during the day only if you're going somewhere at night.

I live in Jerusalem. I have a faux fur 3/4 length jacket. I love it. It's elegant enough for Shabbat but can also be dressed down. I get a fair amount of wear out of it from about late December till early March. I bought it about three years ago and intend to use it again this year. I also own a lightweight waterproof coat, a warmer, heavier parka and a full length coat that I was gifted but honestly only use once or twice a season. Between all these pieces, I feel I have enough variety in my outerwear to cover all kinds of weather. I've owned each piece for several years already. I assume I'll eventually get sick of them and update.

Lots of faux fur short hoodies and jackets here in Jerusalem. They’re not as warm as they look. But they aren’t very practical in the rain.

I don’t want to buy a full on coat. I am thinking about waist length faux fur

I have a very nice faux fur shabbos jacket and I use it a lot. For friday night walks, it’s the perfect amount of coziness. Sometimes I stay with it throughout the meal because it gets chilly inside. It’s washable so that’s helpful. I have something like this

Now that we are at it, do I bring my knee length north face style coat to Jlm? It’s very cosy but also very big.

Originally I envisioned an old lady type wearing a thick fur Russian style coat.
But a North face style fuzzy coat seems perfect. Similar to the link above.
